Momentum doesn't matter going into the playoffs, or so I've been told.

But aren't recent performance trends somewhat an indicator of short term ( WC 3 game series)  expected results ?   Slumps and streaks can start on a dime , but I would look at at last 7-15 games for an indicator on how certain players might perform over the next 3 games.  

Of course, they could completely turn around, but if 9 guys are slumping, should you expect all of them to come alive just because it is playoff time?  Will non-power hitters suddenly muscle up ?

The good news is we will get to see in less than 2 weeks.   Look for who is trending up then.  Nobody could be trending much more down than the Sox lineup

If we get to the playoffs as everyone thinks, I think it is of primary importance that the team is not just healthy, but well rested and in sync as to the goal and how to get there.

And much of that is coaching and management of resources.

Btw, in the 31 games Duran led off this season he had a WRC+ of 147.

I do hope the primary reason they are batting Anthony at leadoff is to just give him as many PA as possible before October…
