Are you frekin' kidding me? Bennett has thrown 55 pitches, 44 for strikes. He's the man.

Give the man couple of more days off between starts!!!!!!!

I think he threw 32 pitches in four innings after his slow start.

Did you see the stat where Ceddanne leads the league in 2 strike hits?

Of course, it's likely he gets to 2 strikes more than anyone else, but that's still pretty impressive.

Among Sox players.... (before today's 2 hits w 2 strikes)

.218 BA in 289 PAs Rafaela

.212 BA in 272 PAs Contreras

.164 BA in 283 PAs Abreu

.135 BA in 261 PAs Duran

Our magic number is 26, Any combination of our win and or a loss by the Rangers will get us into the playoffs with 32 games to go.

That's what accountants do at age 70.

That statement is misleading. He NEVER HAD any plate discipline.

I'll continue to point out his weaknesses-the ones who wear blinders ignore.

Then you were misleading.

Nobody is saying he has plus plate discipline, so who is wearing blinders?

Mr. Stawman?

Plus?

not even average

awful in fact. During the broadcast the announcers mentioned that he has a 58% chase rate with two strikes. I doubt anyone else in baseball is even close to that.

Least of all me. But I do need to point out both the strengths and weaknesses of the players. It’s what people do on a baseball forum

Are you one of the ones who wear blinders? I don’t remember accusing you of that. To refresh your memory here’s what I actually wrote:

I didn’t specify anyone in particular nor will I

You just can’t stand it when I post with a fair and balanced outlook. We’ll get use to it. I intend to compliment players who do well and criticize them when they don’t.

Of all the dumb rabbit holes that Fred has stumbled into, this is among the worst.  Ceddanne is the #2 CF in baseball.

Yup

A d he still has no concept of the strike zone. His chase rate with two strikes is 58%. That stinks.

Fair and balanced…..his play in CF is excellent. He’s having a great year overall. AND there are still areas for improvement.

It can't last much longer.  He's already up to a 2-game hitless streak.  That might be the new MLB record.

You must be new to Sox baseball if you're not aware of Abreu's cold streaks.

Trying to remember the last time you pointed out Ceddanne's strengths.  Reading your comments the day after he had a great game makes you look foolish. Again.

Bennetts performance last night is perhaps an example of what adding another pitcher at the deadline could have done for this rotation.  If everyone stays healthy, I suppose a Brayan Bello bullpen day here and there serves as the same purpose; Bello has a 0.987 era since June 4th in that role.

Between last night, having some days off this last month, I think the Sox can be just fine with a clean bill of health on the pitching side.

Fair and balanced. Deal with it.
Here’s an example of a fair assessment of Rafaela:

You created a strawman, and that is what I'm responding to. Don't distract.

"I'll continue to point out his weaknesses-the ones who wear blinders ignore."

Not a single poster believes or has posted they think Ceddanne does not lack plate discipline.

I'm pretty sure everyone knows and thinks he is near the bottom of the league in plate discipline. Not everyone thinks it matters as much as you do, if the guy still produces.

He's also done mildly better with his K:BB ratio and much better with his OBP.

Can you name one person, besides Mr. Stawman, who thinks Ceddanne does not lack discipline at the plate?

My point was that he has a 2-game hitless streak.

IRT streakiness, I not seeing it.  His worse month was May, with a .695 OPS.  I compared him to Ceddanne, whose worse month was April with a .712.  Then Bellinger because Ceddanne should have gotten the AS nod over him.  Bellinger has had months of .664 and .654.

Then I compared Abreu to the Cubs, because they were in an article this morning.  Their worse months:

  • Happ  .648
  • PCA  .669
  • Suzuki .551

I've seen this in all sorts of things.  People find out things that they should've known far earlier, and then excitedly tell others about their 'discovery'.  It's kind of cute, and happens to everyone.

It’s worth mentioning if one endeavors to write a fair and balanced assessment of Rafaela’s performance. That’s what I am doing: assessing his overall performance. Folks like you tend to mention only the things he does well-which are many-while not pointing out the areas where he needs to improve-like his strike zone awareness and his base running. That’s why you need people like me.
I took a junior college course in Photoshop a few years ago. The instructor kept complimenting my work over and over again. He never mentioned areas where I could improve. At one point I asked him to be more critical of my work so I could get better. I wasn’t satisfied with just getting an A. I wanted to improve. Similar situation with Rafaela. He does great work overall but needs improvement in certain areas.

There are likely a couple of fans in here that can recite his OPS by hot & cold zones.  And I've often said that I'd never throw a first-pitch strike to Ceddanne, Story, and Duran, and probably never throw a strike to Story.

Rafaeala Whiff %

24 9th percentile

25 34th percentile

26 43rd percentile

He's trending closer to average. Not quite there yet, but someday. It also shows the state of the game as to what an average hitter is TBH.

Yup-he's improving in terms of K rate. But he still could improve more by avoiding chasing outside the zone, especially with two strikes, where he chases at 58%. Imagine how much better he could be if he improved there. And, as Merloni mentions during the broadcasts, he gets into "swing mode" sometimes where he will swing at anything. He was better earlier in the year with that but he now seems to be back in swing mode at times.

Same ole- same ole and no answer to my point.

Who is the blind poster ignoring his lack of discipline? Just name one.

You would not get an A when not answering the quewstion.

Sorry. I don't take orders from you. As I wrote in an earlier post I will not be naming names. In the future you should try to give a fair and balanced evaluation of performance-like me.

Are you seriously dedicated to repeatedly pointing out the deficiencies of a top 5 candidate for AL MVP?

Especially since you’re also dedicated to repeatedly singing the praises of a far worse player in Pete Alonso…

You claim to be informing blind "ingnorers," and you wont defend your thesis.

You are about as balanced as Faux News and MSN.

You get an F and back on ignore.
