SEA beat TOR 11-0 and TEX lost to DET 3-0, so SEA now leads the ALW and TEX at 45-44 holds the final WC slot. The CWS are currently the 2nd WC team at 45-42, but you have to wonder if they can hold onto a playoff slot. (I wonder about TEX, too.)

The Twins beat the Yanks 11-4, and it's always nice to see the Yanks lose, but MIN is a team we have a better chance at passing.

Here are the WC standings before tonight's games:

+4.5 NYY

+1.0 CWS (at CLE)

--- TEX

-2.5 MIN

-2.5 HOU (v TBR)

-3.0 TOR

-3.5 ATH (v MIA)

-4.0 BAL (at CIN)

-5.5 BOS (at LAA)

-6.0 DET

Aim for .500 first....that will take care of jumping over several teams analysis on a daily basis.

Missing Romy might have been more harmful that we thoguht.

Romy has developed into a pretty good hitter.  Plenty of pop. Stay healthy my friend.

Contrares is a good ballplayer. Fk the ASG. It's almost as boring as f'ing soccer.

so true. and like the NFL All-Pro game. dumb as hell and ridiculously boring. they even have a minor league version in the "Futures Game".

Is Contreras a better player when angry or stressed out?

i like him and hope he's not traded. i like guys that hustle and bust their ass and play with passion -guys that get pissed off, dive head first and get into arguments. it means they care -sort of the opposite of Marshmello Mayer.

This is exactly how I’d expect Boston to play to play their way back to buyers.

but as of right now they still have the 4th worse record in the A.L.  They have to go 7-2 in their next nine….and look healthy

In theory it should also depend on when Anthony and Crochet return…

.500 is a WC berth, so yes.

...and Early, Sandoval, plus maybe Mayer, IKF & Bello?

We've sucked at 1B too long. I agree on keeping Willson.

Maybe we can trade for brother William.

Sounds right.

In any other year, it would be 99% sell, but when the last WC slot is at .500, that changes everything.

Yep, and this team now gives a tantalizing sense that it's improving.

Capn' Obvious adds: Gotta keep racking W's to prove it!

See how the surprising White Sox series goes before calling it a major move forward.  The Angel's don't offer a serious comparison

I think Romy can add a big enough spark to make a difference. The return of Anthony- no date in sight- could be a major factor.

A couple trades for BLowe & Jeffers types could tip the balance just enough.

Not a knock on Anthony's future but no one should count on him to be a difference  maker. this year. IF he comes back , he will need a month to catch up during which he will look bad and catch hell from fans.

Also, given his '25 and now '26 injuries from swinging a bat, will he be reluctant to test his full swing capacity ?

Good point. It's more of a hope than something we can expect.

It's not even sure he will come back. He may yet get that surgery.

Maybe 50-50, now.

I would still say it's 25-75.  Where's two weeks ago it was 5-95.

There's still a lot in front of them as they're the 4th worse team in the A.L.
