Oh look. Fred showed up.  What a surprise.

Glad I didn’t waste my time watching bums trying to imitate a baseball team.
Just lose baby! Just lose. Gotta get that high draft pick!

Here’s another crock of hot feces:

President Sam Kennedy said Friday the organization is having conversations about adding a bat “earlier than ever”

like the Flops should be buyers, right? Sell, baby, sell!

Lose baby lose!

Well obviously everyone in the FO has to be fired first. Their decision making has been extremely poor over the years, in general.

Well, so far, Tolle and Early have been pretty good decisions.

If the Sox end up 1 game out of the PO's, there's so many games already they and we can look back on.

They don’t always fail. But they signed Campbell and extended him. Mayer has been a flop-he fits right in. Obtaining bums like Durbum and IKF were mistakes. Not getting a big bat over the winter to complement Contreras was stupid.
I expect a better track record from the FO. They SUCK at what they do.

We aren’t going to end up “one game out of the playoffs “. We are more likely to end up one game out of fourth place.

I considered taking a vacation but I returned for your benefit, I knew you would be disappointed by my absence.

Coming from a Sox fan?

Absolutely! I always want what’s best for the team. Don’t you? Sometimes it’s getting what they need to be competitive (like this past winter) and sometimes it’s selling off assets (including the whole franchise) to be better prepared for a future when just maybe we will be competitive-which we are not this year (thank you Henry the Cheap and Breslow the Incompetent).

He wants the Sox to come in last so they can have a top draft pick...

... don't all fans want to base their hopes on signing top prospects who someday -- in seasons years from now -- might be good enough to make the majors... and help their favorite club (if they don't get injured over and over)...

... you know, instead of winning as many games as we can now -- and upgrading the roster with quality big league talent to give us the best chance at contending THIS YEAR WHEN I'M STILL ALIVE.

I have been considering taking a break from this site, as well. I'm sure that would please a few.

Well said, and not all fans are the same, or want to see the same things. I would trade for anyone today, or trade anyone today to help the Red Sox NOW. Tomorrow might just not never come, or  be as good as hope, and hype will lead you to believe.

This roster is too flawed to compete. The pitching is above average, but we would, realistically, need to dump some of the bums we signed (IKF, Durbin etc) and replace them with high quality RHH. Those kinds of trades rarely get made at this time of year and by July we will be so far out of it that we should be sellers. Henry isn't going to pay of the kinds of players we need and Breslow isn't smart enough to identify them. Our best hope is to fire Breslow and hire someone competent then drafting very good players and maybe obtaining a FA next winter. This year is already a lost cause.

I was just kidding about taking a break from here, though I won't be watching as many games this year. There's just no excitement in watching a last or fourth place team that starts bums and has no real commitment to being competitive. Contrast that with the other Boston area franchises and you'll see what I mean: the Patriots were in the Big Dance during a rebuilding year; the Bruins were also rebuilding and made the playoffs; so were the Celtics. Thats because the owners are COMMITTED to winning and the FO are competent. The FLOPS owner gives lip service to winning, but talk is cheap.

Yes you can call them a third, fourth, or last place team, and have the illusion of contention, but what they have been so far in a very weak, and watered down league is a team 5-8 games under 500. 29th in the league in scoring runs, and they keep running out the likes of the not so great Gasper, Sogard, and DUBin, which is not must watch TV especially if your not a diehard.

I’m a diehard but this year has crossed the line.

I think several recent winters crossed the line significantly more than this one, but the cumulative effect is real.

No, you want the team to be run your way.   Not the same and certainly not always best.

Your new tactic of cheering against the team isn’t going to convince the owner to sign any more expensive player just because it appears to be a fit.  The notion of not signing Alonso makes more sense than not because teams have to consider the entire length of the deal and thought Alonso wouldn’t be worth it in just a few years.  (And he hasn’t been so far.)

Henry isn’t selling.  The Sox are part of a lucrative multi-sport franchise.  Breslow might not be the guy to build a competitive team under the new rules, but those rules do appear to prohibit just throwing money at every quick fix, especially since it often means turning a short term solution into a long term problem.  And in many ways, thats a sensible approach…

I know.

The Sox abysmal season is not from a lack of trying from the FO, like 2019 was.  Or 2022.   The Sox actually tried building on a successful season for once.  And ironically THAT is what sets people off…

Cheering against the team is not a new tactic for Fred at all.  He has done it in many seasons when the team was going bad.
