So the incredibly deep starting rotation of March 27 now comes down to a rookie starter going against one of the very few MLB teams with a marginally worse record than the Sox.   #1 and #2 on the IL before end of April,  Crawford may be chronic .   Bello is a bellboy , mental midget.

Looking at the Red Sox hitting stats for OBP and OPS , you could say that only Contreras and Abreu are contributing as expected.      Duran and Anthony are wandering in the desert .   Durbin contributes almost nothing .   Cedanne Rafaela is doing better than you might have expected.

Trevor @ SS, well, that's another Story with a bad ending.

He'll be wearing #64. If you have a green city connect Criswell jersey, you can wear it tonight.

I'm hoping for the best, but coming down to this is not a good sign.

I remember soxprospects.com had Bennett projected in AA back in December. We traded away some extended rotation depth to try and add more quality. While the Perales for Bennett trade was sort of sideways, many felt it was due to Perales needing to be on the 40 and Bennet not, yet here we are.

This might have been the all healthy rotation depth chart, this year:

1 Crochet IL

2 Suarez

3 Gray IL

4 Houck IL (known to be out for the season)

5/6 Bello & Oviedo IL 60 Days

7/8 Crawford IL & Sandoval IL

9/10 Early IL & Tolle IL

11 Uberstine IL

12/13... Bennett, Rivera, Anderson

_____________________________

SP'ers traded/let loose last winter/summer:

Giolito, Buehler, DMay, Newcomb, Fulmer & Priester

Dobbins, Fitts, Harrison, Criswell  Sandlin & Winckowski

Not MLB depth: Clarke, Travieso, Fajardo & Aita

Seems like Masa is odd man out these days. Outside of that Chad’s lineup is not much different than Cora’s. Only 1 game, but Mayer’s sat against a LHP too.

'A' as in Awful.

Chad(one of George Carlin's least favorite 1st names) has to be deprogrammed from believing Cora was a managerial genius.

They ( FO) are concerned Masa will get injured and hurt his trade value in July.

Bennett starts nibbling and not following through issuing 2 walks with 2 outs

FAFO with Altuve and you might pay or not

Bennett will have trouble going more than 4 innings given his pitch count

Yeah, I don't get it.  Sure you WANT Duran and Raphaela and Anthony to be studs, but the fact is, Yoshida is outhitting all of them.   Why is he the one on the bench?

Bennett looks better throwing hard strikes, not so many change ups

But challenged to close the inning out. Sox specialize in 2 out innings

IMO, they recognize that the idea of rotating everyone, is helping no one.  I think the idea of leading off Duran, every day, is the best l/t solution.

Contreras may be an asset on this team. Nice play to get the DP and help Bennett reach the 5th inning

Nice AB by Narvaez.  That was about 5 minutes of fouling off pitches. Hopefully, that HR gets Duran off the schneid.  No one in the history of the world has figured out how slumps turn around.

And good play on the DP by Contreras.  After stepping on the bag, I thought for sure he was going to throw to 2nd and allow the runner back to 1st.

And finally Ceddanne made a tough catch look easy.  His fielding has been off this year.

IMO this kid has way more ceiling than Tolle. Not even close. Also, demote Bello and let him take his spot.

A bold prediction I do concede, but 3 runs will not be enough to win this game which is shortly going over to Kelly and Weissert.

All runs came on 1 swing by Duran , but plenty of LOBsters out on the bases.  1 for 7 RISP through 5.

But still wondering how Casas spends his Saturdays

I hope he's on the phone with his agent yelling at him.  I'm never sure how these things work, but even without the injury, I see no way he gets any more service time this year, and maybe not next year.  And I am not sure how seriously he takes this.

We don't have enough SPs for that.

Most lineups of the last say 30 years would have scored at the very least 10 runs off this Astros pitching already.

Hopefully 3 runs are enough tonight.

Because he is unlikely to outplay them over the course of the season.

Suarez-Early-Tolle-Bello-Bennett.

I meant when everybody is up. Crochet and Gray. Also, seems like Crawford and Sandoval are not far away to be ready too.
