2026 and on was always the timeline.

This year was gravy, though we did have a shot at going to the WS.

We need another offseason of Free Agency and trades combined with supplementing the 2026 squad with homegrown talent Tolle, Anthony, Mayer, Campbell and more.

Team showed well in '25 regardless of what happens here on out.

Well, he said this one felt worse than last time.  What exacerbates this is that we have no idea when Abreu returns.  That's 2 pretty good lefty bats to go against righty pitchers, which the Sox see the most of.

It doesn't help that in their last starts Crochet, Bello, and May did not look their best.

These are the best Sox bats vs righties on the active roster:  Lowe 1.209, Duran .881, Bregman .831, Story .736, Narvaez .735, Rafaela .722, Gonzalez,.697, Yoshida .674, Ref .620, Hamilton .595, Eaton .545, Wong .512.

Last night most of those guys did real damage to Cleveland's pitching staff.  Wong didn't play.  Ref was hitless in 2 AB's.  Hamilton played but didn't bat.

Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuh

That just about sums it up. 😤

Just make the playoffs and enjoy it. Then go hard for the whole thing next year.

Don't worry about a power shortage with Abreu and Anthony on the shelf. They brought up Sogard.

The only plus there is that means Rafaela will now be firmly planted in centerfield for the rest of the year. Right? Right??!??

The existing outfield for the contenders is now Duran, Ceddanne, and that one-hit wonder from the Sixties band: Eaton, Ref and Yoshi!

I'm told we need to have more faith in Yoshida.

We just lost Anthony- our best LHB, and we called up Sogard.

I know Campbell and Jh Garcia are RHBs, but we need some O.

Your timeline, not mine. Bregman, Crochet, Chapman, Narvaez, and Anthony were exactly the shot in the arm this team needed.  Plus Story for a full season at SS and hitting up a storm.  Plus Rafaela having his best season ever (WAR 3.8),  Duran not as good as last year, but still leads the team in total bases.  Heck, Lowe at 1b so far has been a tonic.

Recent starts notwithstanding, Crochet, Bello, Giolito, Tolle, and May are the best Sox rotation in a long time.  Chapman is the best closer since Uehara and maybe better than Uehara.  The fielding is solid and the unearned runs plunged in August.

If you're saying Breslow can make further improvements for next year, I agree. Plus we can hope Bergman, Anthony, Abreu, and Mayer will stay healthy.

Agree with all that, just to be clear i DID say this team had a shot at the World Series this year, even though I have reservations about the full talent level of this team. I do believe better seasons are ahead and right quick. And anyways, even with the Anthony injury this team can STILL do damage and have Roman come back and do damage.

Four weeks from last night is Sept 30 -- when the wild card playoffs begin.

Just so this is not all doom and gloom, Shea Langeliers went on the IL with an oblique strain on June 5 and was reinstated on June 30. He played in three rehab games before that.

In August, Langeliers just led the American League in slugging and total bases, was second in OPS, hit 11 home runs and had 22 RBIs.

If it takes the same amount of recovery time for Roman Anthony, he should be rocking by Game Seven of the World Series. Let'sgo!

When it comes to Sox injuries and expected return dates, I have chosen to just give up on any expectations for a return.

I may be optimistic about more things than others, but not this.

shouldnt hvae been counting on a 21 yr old rookie anyways.  Now half our lienup is noodle bats.  I blame breslow. We never got a real answer why no trade deadline bats, just nonsense.

Im discouraged.  Need Bregman to get hot. Maybe him, Duran, and Story can be a 3 man show.

Exactly. Breslow absolutely FAILED at the TD. The job of the GM is to provide the team with the parts they need to win. Its no secret what we needed: a solid #2 SP and a power bat were the priorities. He got more crap from the bottom of the barrel. Thats how this team functions: barrrel scraping, year after year after year.

Is this at all like the Casas injury last year?  I remember his coming from a swing, but can't remember what it was.
