I'm not for DFA'ing him, now. I think they messed him up, all year and now he's rehabbing at the wrong level.

He may very well hit near .800 again, and it could start tonight.

Nobody seems to want to answer my question.

How much longer do you stick with him?

A couple weeks ago, someone said maybe 2 weeks.

You ride him into October at .420? How about .567? How about his current .609?

Hell, Campbell was over .660 when we demoted him.

Campbell had 263 PAs and Yoshida has had 128, after a long layoff.

No, I was referring to the 11 pitch count on the 2nd batter.

That at bat hurt.  After 1 IP, Crochet 20 pitches, Cecconi 10.

That hurt.  Another hard hit ball, this one a dinger, also off a pitch well outside the strike zone.

Sox hitters need to, well, hit the dadgum ball.

Masa has already batted .286 in each of his first two seasons. Anyone here think Campbell will ever bat .286 or higher?

Bottom of the order comes thru nicely!!!

Crochet a LH pitching half his games at Fenway, IMHO, puts him above Skubal at this point in the season.

I want nothing more than to dump Yoshida.   Are we clear? 😀  I think the Sox use him until Abreu, a better lefty bat, comes off the IL.  If you will recall, I vociferously wanted one of Abreu, Duran, or Anthony to DH against righties when we had "4 outfielders."

I agree Casas had/has potential, but the guy is freaking injury-prone.  Swinging a bat and running to 1b, for crying out loud.  Yes, I was being unfair about Casas short term OPS, but you wanted him as the DH and we know Devers was .905 as the DH.

No, we don't know what Devers would be as a DH or 1Bman, just what he did for us over a couple months.

I think we could safely assume Casas would hit .750 to .850 as a DH, if healthy. That's a big if, but we both are dealing big ifs, here.

IMO, Devers would have been easier to talk into 1B than DH. He might not have gotten so upset, the first time, and there would never have been a 2nd time for him to pout. He might still be here and hitting .950 with no drama.

Of, he could have pouted and cried all year and hit .790 after the trade date for us.

I'm glad we traded him. I think we'll make out in the long run.

I don't see why so many posters want to keep Masa playing with a pretty long .420 or longer .567 OPS going. This isn't Wong playing catcher well, while batting .450 to .550. This is a DH. Anyone can DH. Almost anyone can hit better than .420 and most can hit better than .567, even against their bad splits.

I'm not sure Masas keeps hitting .420 or .567 or .609 or maybe even .800.

I think he's had enough time. He's basically platooning as a DH now, which is a waste of a roster spot. I'd rather he get to bat FT with Woo to see if he snaps out of it.

I don't want Abreu at DH. He's a great defensive RF'er. I guess Duran DH is an option, but we know what Cora will do. When Abreu returns, Rafaela will play 2B, and Masa will keep DH'ing vs RHPs, until the cows come home or Breslow demotes him.

To me, Romy has earned a FT slot in the line-up. No more platoon, until he proves he should go back to it.

It's better he plays 2B, so Rafaela stays in CF, but when Abreu returns, who knows what Cora will do.

Romy can platoon at 1B v L and DH v R, if Rafaela plays 2B, or just keep Romy at 2B FT, despite Lowe being the worst batter vs LHPs in MLB.

Devers .905 was over 73 games, almost half a season because he didn't miss a single game.  Since his lifetime OPS is ,858, I think it's hard to argue the .905 wasn't legit.  If he was 1b instead of DH, I see his OPS dropping.   Agree Casas likely to be .750 to .850, but we can't be sure that injury--running to 1b--wouldn't have occurred anyway,

We agree on Yoshida.

I did not say Abreu should DH, only that one of the three outfield lefty bats should against righty starters.  I think Anthony was usually Cora's first choice to DH, but Duran would also be a good choice.

Dinger by Lowe--to CF, yet. Good acquisition, and I remember being indifferent when I heard they signed him.

I didn't say .905 was not legit. I said we can't know that's what he'd hit after the date we traded him, anymore than we know Casas would stay a sub .600 batter.

I would not DH Anthony over Duran, but I guess we could rotate them.

I'd be fine with an OF'er at DH to end the season. We can't trade one, now. Anyone but Masa. (Hey, Campbell just homered tonight. He hit 50 points higher than Masa, this year.)
