It's not uncommon that the naysayers disappear during good times.

Haven't been hearing as much "Cora is an idiot" or "Fire Breslow"...

Big 6  game homestand coming up. Pirates for 3 and guardians for 3.

We now have 15 home games and 12 away games.

The two away series includes a west coast trip:

AZ and ATH, who are playing well for 2 months.

TBR & TOR

The three homestands:

PIT & CLE

NYY & ATH

DET to end the season

It's crunch time!

Mocking a couple of our more vociferous naysayers.  One was never here today; notice how another one disappeared every time the Sox took the lead but showed back up when Crochet (who definitely wasn’t sharp today, it happens) allowed the tying run to score.

Did you miss me? Believe it or not I actually have a life outside of TalkSox(!). I caught some of the game but was busy dealing with contractors fixing my deck. Fear not!
I’ll be back!

Nice road trip btw.

I think we all have some sort of lives outside talksox, but in a season like this it is hard to stay away.  The Sox are doing great, they're even moving on the Jays, but absolutely nothing is guaranteed.

This road trip has been scary but ultimately very successful.  7 out of 8.

The pitching is great.  The defense is mostly good.  And the hitting is what is scary (and not scary good).

Good heavens to betsy, what will they think of next?  Cats living with dogs.

They will of course limit his pitches to maybe 70.

TOR gets my vote for the toughest, but anyone can surprise us.  It's called baseball.

Don't worry if the Sox are pitching a rookie making his MLB debut vs. the NL Cy Young favorite tomorrow night.

It will also be a Friday with the good guys wearing GREEN!!!!!!

The match-up should be fun, but we all know both starters will be long gone by the time Boston walks it off in the 9th...

I believe he's better than competent.

Where I come from, competent is good.  I haven't seen Anthony do anything spectacular in the outfield, but he does just about everything right.

Story was a big difference today. Both offensively and defensively.

Well phrased.

Mayer to 60 Day IL to make room on the 40.

Who is demoted?

Im guessing Bernardino since he’s mostly a medium leverage guy who has options. Don’t know how the September call up rules apply re. whether he has to stay the normal 15 days or not.

Bernardino is so much better than Hicks and Buehler, and even better than Wilson, who has struggled for several weeks.

It's the time of the season where keeping as many options on the table begins to be outweighed by the need to have your best 26 on the roster for every game.

OPS Against

,365 Chapman

.465 Slaten

.525 Matz

.545 Bernardino

.553 Whitlock

.653 Weissert

.705 Wilson

.771 Hicks

.823 Buehler

Last 28 Days

.032 Chapman (OMG! last 31 PAs: 0-31 w 1 BB!)

.182 Bernardino (yes, this is OPS Against)

.525 Matz

.555 Weissert

.559 Whitlock

.781 Buehler

.816 Wilson

.861 Hicks

Schwarber hit 3 dingers, today. (48 on the year: OPS .946. I guess he is aging well.) The game is still in the 6th!

OMG! Schwarber hit his 4th HR of the game! He's 4 for 6 with 9 RBI!

And to think we coulda had him. While he was here some of his plate discipline rubbed off on the other guys. Henry let him walk.

JH was still paying JD, so this was a "no brainer" to him.

We need KC Texas and Cleveland to keep losing

I only look at KCR and the current playoff track teams.

I'm mostly watching TOR and NYY.
