I don’t post here to please anyone or “keep” them.
I take ALL this with a grain of salt. All of it.

Pleasing others or not has nothing to do with this.

Trolling does.

Whatever you think is fine with me. You have my permission to think I’m a troll.

You are right: game threads aren’t for you.

Like I need a troll's permission. At least you can still make me laugh, so there is that.

And that’s really what counts. If you’re really looking at the Red Sox as “a beacon of hope” as you wrote earlier I’d suggest you reexamine your priorities. This s*** is for entertainment purposes only. At least it is for me.

This was one heckuva ballgame.  With 4 errors, hardly vintage, but a whole lot of back and forth and a great job by he Sox bullpen.

After 60 games it's fair to say Anthony is still learning, but his OPS is .853.

We may still have a bad stretch and miss the 2025 playoffs, but this is not the same team as 2022, 2023 & 2024.

Not even close!

Maybe all the Brez and Cora haters will have the last laugh. Maybe not.

This team is very fun to watch, and Sox fans who  choose to bash, bitch and hate during a season like this are too hard for me to fathom. I'm not telling anyone what they can or can't do. Nobody needs my permission to for anything. I won't tell you to root for another team, like I have to others before, but is it really so hard to be positive and actually support your team?

If masochism is your thing, then at least I understand your angle.

I think it’s more of a catharthis, but I think it gets a little overboard at times…

You know better. I want the team to win as much as anyone here. But it’s an incredibly frustrating franchise to watch sometimes. I don’t think they are particularly well managed and they have “flopped” entirely too many times-so much so that I’ve come to expect it. So I’ve become negative about them based on their history of letting down their fans.
Nonetheless I can honestly say I’ve never lost a wink of sleep over baseball or any other sport.

It’s entertainment only for me.

I prefer the term “exaggeration”. Try not to take it too seriously.

The word fan is short for fanatic.  If it's just entertainment, ain't no reason whatsoever to blog about it--at least, not as much as we all do.

I'm sane--at least most of the time--I do housework, shopping, bill paying, budgeting, investing, estate executor,  etc,  I don't drink or smoke, but I'm an addict when it comes to Red Sox baseball.  I attend Mass on Saturday or Sunday depending on whether the Sox are playing at 4 pm on Saturday.   My wife and children and grandchildren are not Sox fans, but tolerate this addiction, except in conversation, where it is not tolerated.

I was not always this way, not by a long shot.  But satellite TV allowed me to watch almost all Sox games, including for 15 years before I retired in 2019.  It's not all my fault.  John Henry gets a lot of the blame for delivering 4 WS wins.  Three straight lousy seasons are nothing--nothing!!!!.  I became a Sox fan in 1949, mostly because of Ted Williams and the fact that was born in Boston--so I lived through 55 years of the curse.

You got me by about 8-10 years. Been a fan since the late 50s.
Im a fan but I don’t rearrange my day to watch a game. I want them to win as much as anyone else here but at the end of the day it’s really not important. It’s fun. Like scuba diving….entertainment.

But hey-I hear you guys! I’m hearing that you want me to tone it down a bit.
I’ll do my best….

Nailed it again! You are so smart!

I use to be smart-but that was a long time ago

Anyway, we need to win two of the next three at least. We have pretty favorable pitching matchups so we have a shot at it. Especially if we can start plating our lobsters.
Isn’t owning the Yankees a treat?

Give it a rest, Fred. I've never seen a poster more desperate to convince everyone of how much more about baseball they know.

This 'I'm extremely chill' nonsense is hilarious after your last month or two.

Imagine this: Fred is a Yankee fan on a Yankee forum.

How many Yankee players suck?

How about we try enjoying a win rather than starting fights with other posters?

If your first reaction to the Sox beating the Yankees is to try and make fun of another poster, you’ve probably exceeded your screentime limits for the day.

The other poster was Fred, mind you.

There’s just been a little too much calling out of other posters and moon went out of his way to start some nonsense instead of celebrate a win. Some people are more negative about the Sox. Some people are more positive about the Sox. Every game can’t be a referendum on which side needs to eat crap the next day. Fred/Pumpsie is NOT the only negative poster in the gamethreads, but he gets called out. I believe Hitch said that Fred/Pumpsie is more desperate to prove that he knows more than anyone else. We KNOW that there are other posters on here (at least one) that are far worse.

The Sox are playing their best baseball in years. People should try to enjoy it. If another poster really bothers them that much, just put them on ignore.

The problem with putting posters on ignore, is that anytime you start reading this forum without being logged in you see what that person says anyways.

Also, you still see what they write when other quote them.  The last year, I've tried to just literally ignore all the dumb crap, that's not to say If I don't ever respond to people I think your point is dumb.  You step away from this forum for a day or two, or even just a few hours and stuff gets buried.  I don't always got time to go back and get caught up.

Also, most of the conversation in here is often the same thing being said over and over and over again.

And over.

and over.

and over again.

Posted

Another thing I've tried to start doing this year is agree with people I have often disagreed with.  And what I have found is that.....sometimes I actually agree with them alot.

Try it sometime, try to agree with someone you've argued with a lot here.  Find something you agree with them on and talk about it.  It will make you feel better I promise.

I certainly agree.  I just think that if you read through the game threads you see that so many other posters have a problem with Fred's posts that it's clear he is the problem.  But as you're saying it's up to other posters not to become part of the problem, and they should strongly consider the ignore option to avoid that.

And when I read through the gamethreads, I see a whole bunch of posters being negative, not just Fred/Pumpsie. There was no reason to single him out IMO.

There's a big difference between writing a post that is just like "big win, guess all the negativity wasn't necessary over the past few days" and "(poster's name) is bad." It's easy to address opinions you don't like without having to make the environment here more toxic. To me, it just seems like there's been an uptick of pile ons recently. Gamethreads should be fun, not whatever they are now. Let people boo. Let people cheer. It's part of being a fan. It's all good.

Here I have to disagree.  Other posters say negative stuff, absolutely, but Fred insists on taking it to a different level, predicting losses, actively rooting for losses, calling them bums and flops, and it's relentless.  It's a whole different thing IMHO.  A lot of other posters get fed up with it and say so.

I don't entirely know what your problem is lately, but you like calling me out a lot. You have a history of having pages and pages of nonstop fights with other posters. I don't have that issue. For the betterment of the board, chill out.

Maybe?!?!? People on here would rather fight about it I guess.
