Again I repeat whoever programmed this game thread should immediately return the money paid to him

Too much max?

Crochet is a warrior. A true Ace.

He did what aces do.  He didn’t have his best stuff but he figured out a way.

The Mariners should win many series when they limit their opponents to five runs on nine hits over three games.😏

Gorgeous day at the ballpark, though.

Eh, I was a little chilly in the CF bleachers, although it’s my fault for not brining a long sleeve

Very nice win, but the offense getting just 3 hits cannot go on for much longer.

28 hits in the last 6 games. (4 HRs)

In the last 4 games: 15 hits w 6 of them XBHs (4 HR & two 3Bs)

Giving credit where credit's due. Hamilton does play a steady defensive 2nd base.

It's too bad his SS defense sucks, or he'd be a much more useful utility man w great PR value.

5 of the 6 starters were excellent in this series.

Only 3 hits but we were hitting the ball hard. There are probably 3 more hits taken away by the Seattle defense

True, but we've had some bloopers and seeing eye grounder hits over the last 6 games, too.

Glad you got us another "Double You."

We scored 2-4-2-2-0-3 runs the last 6 games and went 5-1. We have pitching. (lol)

We're 7-4 when we score 3 runs, 5-4 when we score 4 runs, 4-4 when we score 5 runs. 18-5 when we score 6+ runs.

Crochet 10-6, Buehler 7-5, Giolito 6-3, Dobbins 6-3, Bello 6-5, combined 35-22 when this five starts. That's +13 over .500. Yankees lead the Division with 12 games over .500. Maybe we're not as bad as we think.

We had 2 dingers which drove in 3 freaking runs.    Seattle had 1 run and 6 hits to our 3 runs and 3 hits.

The six game winning streak was all about a few meaningful hits and a ton of good pitching.    We had Raffy for 5 of those wins and didn't need him.

Cora has 4 rookie hitters.  Narvaez is already good, and Mayer and Anthony will be.  Rafaela and Story have OPS's over .800 in June.  Abreu is due back Friday and Bregman maybe 2 weeks after that.  Yoshida is lurking somewhere.

Devers had a single and a double last night and the Giants lost, 3-2.

Well if Bres can get a Crochet and a Bregman each year, I'm good.

They were/are expensive, but worth it.   I think Bres has JH's confidence.  Plus 3 of the 4 rookies look pretty good and are inexpensive, as are Toro, Doran, Rafaela, and Abreu.   Giolito is a $40M bust except when he has back to back quality starts for wins.  Buehler is a bust. Story is overpriced but I like him.  Yoshida is overpriced.

Max, I never understood your focus on small sample sizes, like 6 games, but now it's one game?

I'm sorry, 3 hits, even if two are homers is not a feather in the offense cap.

Our offense is and has recently been in bad shape. Losing 25% of our run production is and will be a major blow. We can hope and pray and explain away. We can point to 2 homers in one game and talk about players coming off the IL, but our team just got a lot worse, on paper.

Luckily, they game is not played on paper, and to me, our team was better on paper than our record indicated before the Devers trade, so that was proof that "paper" means little. The fact is that Devers' production was not on paper. It was real. It was fungible. It cannot be easily replace by hopes, prayers and dreams.

I'm not giving up on 2025, but I'm not going to try and minimize the loss of Devers by sugar-coating 3 hits, just because 2 were homers. We have 28 hits in the last 6 games. That's less than 5 a game. I don't care if Devers went 0-30 in his last or next 6 games: we'd be a much better offense with him still here.

We can't afford to miss one more winter on our big FA signings. Yes, Bregman was a hit, not a miss, but he's also on the IL for 60 days or so, so even our hit has an asterisk.

The Crochet deal was great. I wish we had thrown in someone else besides Meidroth, but I'm thrilled with the trade results and we also did what I said was essential in making the deal an overall plus: we extended Crochet until his peak prime years are over or near over.

Yes, bring Bregman back is task one.

But, we just have to strike gold on our two biggest signings or trades to more than make up for the loss of Devers. It's gotta be two steps up and one step back and not the Bruce Springsteen song.

By now everyone should know I defend Cora relentlessly.  However, watching Crochet today convinces me that Cora let him pitch too long--into the 9th inning--5 days ago.  At the time, I was delighted, but now I have the gift of 50-50 hindsight.

I missed the wild pitch.  Was it catchable by Wong?

Maybe blockable but not catchable by any means.

OKthis is for Max I guess.  I’m very much old school myself.  Giolito is a long way from being a bust.  What is Pivetta being Paid?  Campbell is not really as bad as some paint him out to be.  He’s a kid.  It really isn’t his fault that he was brought up too soon.  Shorten up the swing- see the ball, hit the ball!.  No one can ever convince me that Mayer shouldn’t have been the first one up.  He will be a star for this team until they trade him away.  Campbell, regardless of the euphoria, I doubt was ready.  Crochet of course looked tired but he is a horse.  He did what his team needed him to do today.  3 hits is somewhat south of sickening.   Bullpen got it done.

When Bregman finally returns I'm guessing that Mayer plays SS and Story moves to 2nd. If Campbell is still struggling, he will be optioned to Woo.

Or against LH pitchers Cora may put Campbell at 2nd and Story at SS.

I don't think we keep any of our 3 prospects on the big club, if the plan is to start them under 50-60% of the games. Maybe even under 70-75%.

I like Bregman at 3B, Mayer at SS and Story at 2B, but Story has looked better on D, of late, so maybe Mayer at 2B works, too.

Campbell could play 2B vs LHPs and maybe some CF vs RHPs, but I think Cora really loves Rafaela in CF FT, and I can't blame him. Duran should not be benched vs RHPs, so the only other place for Campbell to get 60-75% playing time would be 2B vs LHPs and some 1B vs RHPs. I'm not sure we try that, unless Toro struggles between now and Bregman's call-up, which is possible. Currently, he's 2 for his last 17, so maybe the decline has begun.

When Bregman returns, it's gonna be a platoon fest.
