Great win, Giolito looked great.

One thing I noticed looking at Giolito is he's either been really really good, or awful in all of his starts.

He has 3 starts this year.

May 5th 3.2 innings pitched 6 runs

May 17th 4 IP 6 runs

June 4th 1.2 IP 7 runs

He also gave up 3 runs in his first start, all other starts he has given up 0-1 run.

I know i know i know, I'm cherry picking, and everyone looks better if you take out their worse 3 starts, but the pendulum really seems to swing with him.  He's either awful, but when he's on he's really really good.

Curious to see how tonight's game goes. Can we push the streak to 7 ahead of Crochet tomorrow?

Buehler looked good in his last start but there are still some things I am concerned with. The offense better get going a little bit because we can't expect our pitchers to pull a Houdini act every night. But, at the same time, the bullpen is getting more and more rest and that is more important than perhaps anything else right now.

They can try a Houdini act each night, but some day they are just going to be punched in the stomach and it'll be all over.

We're the only mlb team with 8-2 record over the last 10 games and also have the longest win streak, 6 straight (Phillies next with 5).

Unreal last night that the Angels beat the Yankees in 11. 1-0.

What the hell is going on with the Rays, how do they do it?

We got some 'attitude' guys in our rotation. (it's a good quality). They all think they are better than the opposition.

I'm just curious what bats are available at the trade deadline? I'm guessing it maybe a veteran at 1B but what do you do with someone like Toro?

Do we keep hoping for IL guys so we can keep them all? That doesn't sound like planning.

Since we don't expect Casas to return anytime soon, maybe even not until mid-season next year, do we go for a multiple year guy at 1B?

Ryan O'Hern? He's having a good year even though he looks like a DH. I though he's played 1B before.

Or how about the ultimate Sox trade? Alcantara for Miami is struggling this year coming off an injury.

$17M this year and next, then a club option for $21M in 2027.

Isn't this our bread and butter deal?

The offense has averaged less than 3 runs per game in the winning streak. 🤔

But most of that was with Devers…

Trade for Rhys Hoskins (David Hamilton?) and sign Polar Bear Pete after the season…

So you think it'll be better without a great hitter???

Just pointing out a fact.  And a reminder that these streaks are built on pitching.

While I have been appalled by Devers’ attitude, I never wanted him traded…

It was noted in the very first post that the pitching had been gang busters. My posts right after reaffirmed that. Feel free to add even more reminders if you feel like it. Not sure what Devers had to do with the pitching.  If the pitching takes the slightest step back and the hitting stays under 3 runs per game, they'll be in trouble.

That goes for any team.

They averaged 4.84 RPG with Devers.  They’re not going to average 3 runs per game without him.  Not for long stretches at least…

Just looking ahead to the Giants series, I see that they only have 1 lefty starting pitcher. Just a FYI..

Devers is gone. Probably asked to be traded. No one here knows the whole story, so it's all supposition. I've already gotten over the fact that he's gone.

Go Sox!

My take on Devers: A child in a man's body.

Same here, and I am quite sick of hearing about the trade. So much so that I ignored a guy on the Seattle light rail last night who made a comment about it upon seeing my Red Sox attire.

I am of the firm belief that we are better off without him. I don't want guys on my team that don't want to be here, no matter how good they are. I also don't want guys on my team that think they are more important or valuable than anybody else. Regardless of the actual sequence of events leading up to the trade, both of these statements are true of Devers.

Good to see you here, Thunder.

The line-up tonight has Ref at DH vs a righty, DHam at 2B and 3 rookies 3-4-5 in the line-up.

How much this team has changed since just opening day!

On opening day, our rotation had Houck, Fitts and Newcomb as 3 of the 5. Casas was at 1B, Wong was our #1 Catcher, and of course Devers was the DH.

Sox went 4-15 in games started by that threesome.

Love the changes since opening day--shows how easy Cora's job is.

Thunder in Seattle is pretty amazing.  Is he the one who got the win last night?

Hey, moon! I am pretty active this week as I am on vacation following the team out west. Otherwise I have had a busy spring and have not always prioritized the Talksox community.

Anyway, having so much change since Opening Day isn’t necessarily a bad thing. For pitching, it’s a result of injuries, and those players getting healthy. Refsnyder and Romy know their roles, and it’s nice to see them being rewarded with more playing time.

Perhaps.  If so, he sure ain't the first in MLB.  Maybe getting there was just too easy for him.

I like the Sox he left behind, especially if the pitching holds up.  I think the Sox have plenty of hitting without Raffy.  They are back over .500 without Bregman and Abreu.

We've also been missing Bregman and and Abreu during the current 6 game winning streak.

So I seriously doubt your 3 runs per game coming up and that Devers was why it was 4.84.  Did you know his OPS slipped 80 points while Bregman was out?

Amen.  The team he left behind is an exciting team to watch and root for.
