Logan Gilbert is a really good pitcher. Luckily the Sox traded their best hitter before facing him!

This will be Logan Gilbert's first MLB start since going on the injured list on April 26.

Who takes Devers' spot on the 26 man roster? How about "password" to DH?

Let's piss off more people....lol

Is Abreu eligible to come off the 10 day? If so, I’m guessing he’s the move.

edit - he’s not for a couple more days, so maybe Sogard till then?

Criswell and burdi pitched Sunday. Maybe we could see Garcia????

Our bullpen is well rested thanks to stellar outings by our starting pitching.

Since last Wednesday, no one had to throw over 20 pitches in an outing and we only used 3(Wed)-0(Thurs)-2(Fri)-3(Sat)-2(Sunday) relievers.

When houck comes back, would you put him in the rotation or bullpen

It's Nate Eaton ladies and gents. (Good until Abreu comes back)

He has batted .274 with a .357 on-base percentage, .453 slugging percentage, .810 OPS, seven homers, 19 doubles, one triple, 35 RBIs, 43 runs, 26 walks and 61 strikeouts in 64 games for Worcester.

He has made starts at all three outfield positions as well as third base, shortstop and second base.

I definitely would not start him unless someone falters or gets hurt. He should be treated like Pivetta was.....go to the pen and work it out. Multiple innings in relief at first.

Has to be a position player; Sox have 13 pitchers on the 26 man right now, which is the max allowed.

Numb. Apathetic. Worse. How else to describe how this feels?

All after sweeping the Yankees.

Good plan.

So this is definitely the weirdest vibe I've ever had getting ready to go to a game in person. I'm going to closely watch the mood of the team over the first 1-2 innings and see how they look. In theory, if Devers was truly unhappy and demanded a trade - as has been reported - then I wouldn't expect the team to come out looking that defeated tonight.

I would certainly expect the offense to struggle on this trip, but the way the starting pitching has been throwing the ball lately, I would still imagine we compete in ballgames. But, nobody really knows for sure. Either the players will give up on the season, or they will galvanize themselves and have fun out there. There is no third outcome.

Sox hit lefties better than righties, and two of our best against righties are/were Devers and Bregman with OPS's .907 and .915.  Abreu, also on the IL, has an OPS of .828 against righties.

I would DH with Gonzalez and play Campbell at 2b because both are better hitting righties (OPS's .705 and .674) than Hamilton (OPS .514).  Maybe this is Cora testing Hamilton to see if he can be kept when Bregman returns.

The departure of Devers takes away a very good hitter, but provides Cora some flexibility when Abreu returns this weekend.

Good stuff.  Well said.

In the most recent 5 games, all wins and all with Devers as DH, the Sox scored 3, 4, 2, 4, and 2 runs--3 runs per game.

No way our youngsters going to give up. You realize they have dreamed about this all their lives right? You honestly think Dobbins, Anthony, Mayer, Campbell, Bello, Rafaela, Navarez are going to give up? Chapman? Story? Duran? Refsnyder? Crochet?

Clutch recovery there by Giolito. Striking out the top 3 Seattle hitters with the bases loaded is impressive
