And Im not sure that our game 2 starter wont be Crochets right arm.

I like your attitude, and so do the ghosts of Christy Mathewson and Joe McGinnity -- who threw all but one inning of the '05 Series for the champion Giants... and their staff ERA of 0.00.

That was 1905.

Things come back around if you wait long enough. Even bell-bottoms.

If Duran, Chapman and Bregman can carry a team to the World Series, then why not us?

because the rest of the Phillies team is so much more superior to ours. Just look at their starting rotation for example.

I do appreciate your mentality.  I dont jump for joy when a player gets trapped into such a team friendly deal that hes just trapped for life (get scottie pippen'd).  But I guess I do lvoe me a contract that works for both sides (even if its slightly more favorable to the team than the player, but key word is slightly)

Hey look Kimmi, looks like you dont exclusively root for "the laundry" (which you shouldnt and you dont).

You're right, I don't root exclusively for the laundry.  There are a lot of former Red Sox players and players in general that I root for when they're not playing against the Sox.  Devers is not one of them, however.

Contenders for a WC spot, sure. For the WS, not a chance even if they traded for Joe Ryan.

The key is to make the playoffs.  Once there, anything can happen.  I'm a firm believer that the playoffs are a crapshoot.  If we make the playoffs, we'll have almost as good a chance as any of the other teams.

Beuhler threw a decent game against Tampa!! The two meatballs hurt, but still a quality start!!!

just need everybody else in the rotation to keep throwing well!!!

I have more confidence in the lineup now than I did in April!!!

but we only go as far as the rotation takes us!!!

Hardly quality.

Fine for a 5th starter. TB isn't a slouch offense either.

Adding a solid #2 would be very nice for the playoffs, too

Bres-slow says pitching is the priority for the deadline.
It will be expensive, but I think he can find us a guy.  Probably someone we never discussed!!

It's not fine, when this is the best start the guy can give, and it happens once every 5 starts.

Buehler has good stuff, but command and control are lacking!!
he started the season with decent command and control, but got hurt and when he came back, he could not throw anything but balls and meatballs!!!
I think he is starting to figure it out, but what if he regresses over the all-star break????

I was saying THAT start was fine for a 5th starter not his overall performance.

Borderline, at best, unless you look at just ERs allowed (4.50 ERA for the game.)

His OPS Against that game must have been over 1.000.

Doubtful since his OPS in 2 starts in July is 800.

 Current rotation:

1.) crochet - ace

2.) tbd

3.) giolita - pitching extraordinarily this past month!!!

4.) bello - starting to learn to go after hitters

5.) fitts - we won the last two games he started. None before that!!

6.) beuhler - struggles to find the plate even if he has military grade gps!!!!!

put skenes in that number 2 spot and I think we can win the World Series!!!

Freddy Peralta of the Brewers has been mentioned by some Sox talking heads. He's under team control thru 2026.

Anything is possible - but the Brewers are like good and stuff.  They will need some path to not backslide if they were to do that.

I think the Sox already have a good enough rotation, lineup, and even bullpen for the playoffs.

So job 1 is to get to get there.   The 2011 Sox were pretty good, but couldn't do it after they collapsed in September.  This team still has 67 games to play, and a lot can happen.

We should start hearing about Sandoval, soon. We sigh guys like him, so we have a reason to not make a big deadline deal.

This one might just work! He’s a good one!!!

Forget tbd.  Not gonna happen by 31 July.

When was the last time the Sox had 3 starters as good as Crochet, Bello, and Giglio?   They already have 31 quality starts in 49 starts and ERA's of 2.23, 3.14, and 3.36.

Definitely been a while since we had three good starters, but I believe bres-slow will continue to be aggressive and try to find us that number 2 starter this month!!!
