Me neither.  If I was to rank former red sox infielders who had a serviceable (but not good) season with the Giants later in their careers:

Panda's +1.3 WAR in 18-19  would actually be below Freddy Sanchez's +1.9 WAR in 2010 in the "one who got away" scale.

I always found Freddy likeable.

He also would have been good enough from 06-11 that you wouldn't have had to sign Lugo.

And what do Duran, Rafaela, Abreu, Anthony, Refsnyder, Campbell, Yoshida and DHam/Romy (occaisonally) have in common?

That's enough OF'ers for 2-3 teams.

You forgot sogard, but regardless. Depth is vital and necessary in today’s game

I'd consider holding off on trading Arias for now. He's apparently made some gains this offseason. Let's see what he can do this year. If Breslow wanted a good closer, he could have signed one in FA.

I'm not for trading Arias, but I do think we could get a closer without trading a top 3 prospect.

I think we should have signed Scott or a lesser closer, but we didn't, and the need is still there.

I didn't forget him. I doubt he's on the roster by the end of the season.

(Stupid joke alert)

The Sox have to be careful they don't get any too many men on the field penalties this year.

I thought arias was the best defensive short stop I saw in the Red Sox system last year. This kid was amazing.
I do not know if the bat will work since he has a lot of rafeala in him.
I would not trade him either

Amazingly enough, Rafaela has 6 walks vs. only 3 strikeouts in spring games!

Rafeala has looked much better at the plate. He is laying off low pitches that he never would lay off before.

I truly hope he continues this in the regular season

It's strange. You know they have been trying to get Rafaela to change his free-swinging approach for years, then suddenly....

Way to small a sample size and can't learn too much from ST, but if he is trending towards better plate discipline/contact, that contract is going to be an absolute steal.

Really looking forward to watching the kid this year.

Arias is a much more patient hitter than Rafaela was at his age. His BB's are double what Rafaela's were. His OBP was also 150 points higher in the complex league than Rafaela's was. Rafaela didn't even pop as a real prospect until he was a 21 year old in 2022. Arias was already making a name for himself as a teenager.

I hope he can carry it forward, but I wouldn't expect a huge turnaround. Even if he can drop his k% to 20% and increase his bb% to 5%, it's a really huge swing that I'd be happy about.

It is a SSS, but if he had 12 Ks and 1 BB, right now, we'd be viewing it as a sign he is not improving.

Agreed. Maybe even 25% to 4% would be enough.

IDK, a decrease of 1.5% in k rate is just statistical noise.

I see your point, and an increase of 1.5% in BB % is not great, but to go from a 2.6% to 4% is actually a larger than 50% jump in rate.

Grissom does need a change of scenery if he's ever going to have an MLB career.

The Punchless Wonder slugged .235 in his 40 PA's in spring games.

He'll have all year in WOO to get it together.

Injuries have a way of changing things if he puts things together.

I think the guy just has serious holes in his game.  The lack of power has been glaring, and that may even be an understatement.

No power + No D does not leave much to earn a meaningful role.

IKR? what the hell were the Sox thinking when they traded for this guy? the Sale trade just looks worse and worse all the time.
