Maybe they sent it to my old address in MA?

Then you need to do the following.

Listen to Lou Merloni on EEI and write down the fourth letter of every third word in every second sentence he says.  Enter those numbers into your Jimmy Piersall Decoder medallion and it should give you an address plus a secret word.   Go to the address and look for a gnome carrying a vat of custard and say the secret word.   He will hand you your $8.45 cash back reward.

If he doesn't, you probably found the wrong gnome carrying a vat of custard.   You will have to try again tomorrow...

There all different levels of fans so when I say the $40M figure is what’s talked about most out on the street it’s, because that’s the first figure reported, and the only figure that some care about. Not everyone is in to all the CBT talk, or even care how everything is broken down. Like I said different levels of fans have different levels of interest in each, and every point. or lack of. That’s what not everyone understands, or wants to. Different levels have different needs whether it’s CBT, stats, or anything else. What’s good for one might not be for another, and vice versa, and no one is going to change.

That's a very lengthy way of saying, I'm just not interested in understanding something.

How can you have strong convictions about something you admittedly don't even care to understand.

Like, for a fact WE KNOW Bregman will not physically be paid $40 million this year, nothing close to it, and we know the LT hit is $31.7 million?  Like, what's the hang up on dropping that number?

Sticking your head in the sand, knowingly and admittedly doesn't change facts.  And that's fine.....but why continue to die on the same hill you admit to not knowing something about nor care to take the time to understand it?

Not as an outfielder...

As a platoon 4th outfielder, how much better do you expect to do?

I mean, an upgrade would be fine, but you'd have to cut Refsnyder I suppose.

Lets do a trivia question.  I will mail a 12 pack of beer (of your choosing) to the winner.

What is Alex Bregmans 2025 Gross pay?

I think his numbers vs RHP won't be as good this year as they were in '24.

He's been really good for a couple years... vs LHPs.

How does what’s being talked about mostly that I have heard on the street, which is the $40M figure got to do with me understanding something? IT Doesn’t! What is it that I have strong convictions about? I know you don’t think I do, but if I saw the breakdown of Bregman’s contract I WOULD understand it, but once again what does that have to do with what’s  Being talked about on the street, which you can’t seem to comprehend that from what I’ve mostly heard most fans don’t care how the contract is broken down, or don’t even remotely care what his LT hit is. Why is that so hard to understand, and comprehend that not ALL fans have the same amount of caring about the same things as you do? That doesn’t make them any less a fan than you. Everyone is above ground, and NO ONE has stuck their head in the sand.

The streets? ok, this isn't a movie this is real life and there are facts.  You can drop the $40M per now.  This is not a complicated topic talking about the merits of using WAR, we are talking about a guys salary.  He either is, or is not making $40 million per.  No need to try and make in ambiguous.

It's ok, there's no need to feel embarrassed or ashamed.  The rest of us said 40 million too until we learned better.  We are all in the same boat.

I have zero doubt in my mind, every person who comments in here have a very high level of love for the Boston Red Sox.

If you're on a Red Sox forum from November through March, you clearly have a love for the Red Sox that might require a 12 step program...

Of course there are facts, but why does it put you in a dither so much that not everyone cares what all the facts are? No one is disputing any of your facts at all, but what you seem to be disputing , or for the life of you fathom is that not everyone cares what all those facts are like you do. Don’t worry you don’t embarrass anyone , or shame anyone for that matter. 🤭🙈. Is, or isn’t. Cares, or don’t cares. I’m sure this will be a LMAO at the bowling alley tonight.

I know I have a problem because I know who Seby Zavala and Blake Sabol are and their current deficiencies. I've also looked at Abraham Toro's underlying metrics because I like eating crumbs off the floor. I've participated in posts about Nate F'n Eaton on this forum and had legitimate thoughts about him not just jokes. I remember when they traded for Wyatt Mills two years ago and am looking forward to watching him pitch in AAA this year even though he hasn't thrown a competitive pitch since he came here. I do believe that it's unfair to have Wyatt Mills and Wyatt Olds in the same bullpen. I still believe in Isaiah Campbell and not just his glorious moustache!

LOL it doesn't get me in a dither.

You don't care about the facts, but then stubbornly dig your feet in on a topic that the facts go against.  Then openly admit you don't care about the facts.

I'm more just trying to understand this thought processes. It's pretty much saying "hey Im' probably wrong, but I don't care I'm going to argue against you anyways"

Facts aren't something you "care" about that just are. If you have a discussion with someone and go against the facts it's going to cause friction.  I dont' care if you're talking about building a road, a baseball team, or solving a mathematical equation.

It's really not that serious, It's just an interesting take I've never seen anyone ever take before.  I'm not bothered by it, in fact I think you're often spot on in here.  I'm just a curious person and your position on this matter is very perplexing.  I mean no insult.

C Wong, Narvaez

1B/DH Casas, Devers

2B Campbell

SS Story, Hamilton

3B Bregman

RF Abreu

CF Duran, Rafaela

LF Yoshida, Refsnyder

I don't see room for a Duvall addition unless they plan on DFA'ing him midseason.

So your starting outfield is Duran/Rafaela/Abreu and your bench is Duvall/Narvaez/Hamilton/Refsnyder.

I suppose that's fine but someone is getting cut or traded when Anthony or Campbell come up.  Which is fine.

It's ok, man. As long as you know the best Red Sox reliever named Wyatt was John in 1967: 0 starts, 60 games, 20 saves, 10 wins, pennant.

John Wyatt, and Sparky Lyle. A good combo.

Interesting

Cot's just within last couple of minutes reduced luxury tax payroll on Bregman from $40M to $31.704M.

We are under the tax limit by $566K.

I don't really care what the total outlay is. I only care about the luxury tax payroll.

This signing looks better and better.

I hop he hits 60 HR, wins the World Series MVP and opts out.

Then extend Croshet to a $320M, 8 year deal with an opt out after second year.

Don't see the need to make anyone a full-time anything.

Having Bregman doesn't mean Devers never plays third again--it just means the Sox D will be better when he doesn't.

Doesn't mean Bregman will never play 2B.....but if Grissom/Ham/Campbell can play it, he won't play 2B very often.

Means Masa might hit (mostly) against RHP, against whom he's very good.

They're much deeper, erected a fall-back in case all of the 2Bs fail, and protected both Masa and Devers. I'd be thrilled if he opted out; it would mean he had a great season.

Your response to my post makes absolutely no sense.

My point was we have many injured players coming back, Trevor Story and Casas to mention just two. Getting more at bat and defense from Story will improve the Sox. Bregman will also outperform Tyler offensively and defensively.

Who in the hell said anything about making anyone full time anything?

I had a sneaky feeling the amount of deferred money was set up to keep us under the tax line for 2025.

$566K does not leave much in season wiggle room, unless we dump a salary. The obvious choice would be Yoshida, but then we instantly realize, it's not so obvious. Nobody wants that contract.

I don't want to sound like a broken record, but with Bregman at 3B, I'm really liking how this roster came together and think we can make a major stride, this year.

I'm a huge fan of defense- maybe because I sucked at hitting after little league, but I was good at D and baserunning. Hoping for Story to play a full year is feeling like the Sale saga, but with Mayer in the wings and Rafaela looking much better than Kike & Co, I feel better about SS. Although DHam's sample size is small, the metrics back up my eye test on him being a plus defender at 2B. Romy looked good, too. That platoon at 2B or seeing Campbell there FT makes me feel much better about our keystone combo's defense than I have in over a decade. Rafaela and or Duran in CF only adds to my pleasure over our up-the-middle defense. (Only the Catcher mucks up my dream.)

The joy over the improved D, "up the middle" could also be spread to our corner IF and RF positional improvements that are now possible, due to the Bregman signing and O'Neill departure. I've mentioned my opinion too many times, already (Bregman at 3B and Devers/Casas on a pair-share of 1B/DH.) To me, we could see gains on D at both corner slots.

On RF, Abreu is real good on D. Either he learns to hit LHPs and becomes a FT GG-type RF'er, or we can platoon Rafaela with him (NOT Refsnyder, unless it's an away game in a park with a short RF.) I know- I know: Rafaela is our best defensive CF'er, but to me, the step down to Duran is a tiny one, and Rafaela has a better arm for RF than Duran or Ref. If Anthony busts down the door, he could play CF or RF vs LHPs and CF vs RHPs with Duran in CF vs LHPs and LF vs LHPs. (Ref plays LF vs LHPs.)

Now, to my controversial and seemingly contradictory position: Our best offensive line-up would see Yoshida in it over Rafaela. One could argue over DHam-Romy, too, and destroy the D by putting Bregman at 2B, Devers at 3B, Casas at 1B and Yoshida-Ref at DH. That would improve the OF defense, but could make 3 infield positions worse. I know making our LF defense poor is check in the negative column, but this line-up looks sweet and all but LF and C looks good on D):

1. L Duran CF

2. R Bregman 3B

3. L Casas DH/1B

4. L Devers 1B/DH

5. R Campbell 2B (Or LDHam/R Romy batting 8th at 2B)

6. L Yoshida/ R Refsnyder LF (or maybe 5th w no Campbell)

7. R Story SS (or 5 or 6th w no Campbell)

8. L Abreu/R Rafaela RF (or 7th w no Campbell)

9. R Wong/Narvaez C
