So Jarren Duran was caught calling a fan the f word (******) is this that big of a deal? Is he getting going to face like a 30 game suspension? Is he getting benched? We really can’t afford to lose him right now

It's pretty clear he said it and already apologized, so I think the fact is he did it.

I'm not sure what the punishment will or should be, but probably some sort of "sensitivity training" will be mandated.

This is really a bad time for this sort of distraction for the team and Jaren.

Lol. He is an All Star leadoff hitter, so that has to be taken into consideration. He will definitely get much less than 30 games. Now if say, Will Middlebrooks was caught on an open mike saying the same thing, it would be the end of his announcing career. It's all a matter of your importance to the organization. Life can be so unfair. And, Steph Curry, great Olympics by the way. Congratulations.

He also called a fan Bitch in KC last week, so spewing to the fans seems to be a thing with him. Part of his daily vocabulary for friends, and foe alike IDK.

If it is in fact "part of his daily vocabulary," then maybe he needs some kind of appropriate punishment or re-education or whatever.

Is there some kind of camp where they can send him for reeducation ?

Yes but it’s run by Thom Brenneman and Jimmy the Greek…

I know many of you have been in a clubhouse or dugout or football bench area . How about a military installation or ship ? I still can use some of that 'daily vocabulary" when applicable.

Jarren's mistake is that one of the unwritten rules of sports is Do Not Interact with or acknowledge the fans. They are not your friends

The fan provoked it. He told Duran that he needed a tennis racket to hit. Jarren was just giving him the street response. The street response is not approved for polite society like Fenway Park. Lol

The fan said something I could have razzed my 12 year old about during a game of whiffle ball. If that's "provoking" Jarren into yelling a slur, then he really needs to go see Matt Young's psychiatrist. Losing your cool over basically "swing batter batter swing" is the most snowflake reaction of all. Now, he's going to get taunted at every away stadium. He's going to need to learn to turn the other cheek and not let it hurt his performance. What a complete dumbass.

Agree 100%. The Red Sox have also suspended Duran 2 games.

Seems fair. Good warning to him to leave fans alone going forward and give him some time to reflect.

You need a "tennis racket", is not something very mean-spirited. Many players have heard much worse.

Embarrassing that he couldn't let an innocuous comment like that get under his skin. It would be one things if someone yelled something really personal or threatening, but that? GTFOH. He has to be better plain and simple, but now he made his job harder.

That comment and the aftermath cost him his complete season of playing all 162 ( there will be no playoff games). Now with his spirit shattered and nothing but acid to spur him on, he may not get another hit all year. Sad demise of a player who had electrified a team up until yesterday. Completely overlooking that he was 0-3, with 3 Ks

Actually the tennis racket might have helped. Meanwhile, the Sox have docked him two days pay and they are giving the money to some gay organization. It's a crazy world out there.

I don’t think it’s just his feet that runs angry. I think the rest of him does too.

Duran gave a press interview apologizing for his actions. Said he let his fans down. And he was wearing a T-Shirt that said " f*** em" across the chest. Lol.

Like I said previously that I believe all of Duran runs angry, and not just his feet. It sounded pretty phony, and not to genuine either listening to him talk IMO.

He was forced to apologize, for sure. But you would think they would have told him to change the shirt. Before yesterday's game , Duran was presented with the Red Sox " Heart and Hustle" award, which recognizes the player with a passion for the game and best embodies it's values, spirit and traditions. You really can't make this stuff up.

Every player public apology in history has sounded rehearsed, orchestrated, and/or insincere…

Bitch, FF I think that’s just part of his regular vocabulary, and not something that just comes out of the blue.

The shirt is kind of his apparel too.

A small clip from the interview. Reporter: " Jarren, have you heard anything from MLB or the Red Sox organization yet" ? Duran: " About what" ? Lol. Too funny.

It does seem like the Sox specialize in bizarreness.

That just shows he really has no clue.

If I was Duran's lawyer I would argue that was a vague question. Maybe "About what, specifically?" would be a better response.
