Crawford vs Ragans (LHP)

Let's hope Crawford can get it back together, and we do better vs LHPs than we have much of the season.

It was sure nice to win the first 2, but one more would be really great!

GO SOX!

New record by Crawford---apparently his 12 HRs allowed in his last 3 starts have never been done by a pitcher in recorded history, going back to the Egyptian 1st dynasty.

Kutter, that is not happening Wednesday buddy. You are the sweeper.

What the %#%+! are you talking about? They were one of the plagues that struck Egypt. Blood, frogs, lice, locusts, and then gopher balls…

Imagine if Red Sox pitchers were hired to throw Home Run Derby at the All-Star Game. If the job was soley to serve BP down the middle, doesn't it seem like they could easily mess that up? Someone would miss the zone entirely, another would drill a batter in the foot, and a third would slump off the mound holding his shoulder until a trainer could help him off the field, through the dugout, and directly into the MRI machine.

All Crawford has to do is try to throw home run balls -- then his pitches will break just enough off the plate for big swingers to hit one-stitch easy grounders and pop-ups.

Licensed to kill gophers by the government of the United Nations. A man, free to kill gophers at will. To kill, you must know your enemy, and in this case my enemy is a varmint. And a varmint will never quit - ever.

Excellent commentary. Thanks.

Crawford's last 3 starts before the ASG break produced 20 IP and 1 ER against the Yankees, Royals, and Marlins.

His 3 starts since have brought 15 IP and 16 ER against the Dodgers, Yankees, and Rangers.

It's a crazy freakin' game.

Cubs beat MIN, today, and the Yanks won game one vs LAA.

We need to take care of business, tonight, so we don't have to scoreboard watch- hoping other teams lose.

Can the Sox turn a leaf and score early in the game ? Talking to you Jarren, Rob R. and Romy, get the line to Raffy , so we can play from ahead in this sweep opportunity.

Trying to be upbeat, but these guys have not hit well in the 1st. Of course when Romy Gonzalez is hitting third, it means Tyler O'Neill is still recovering from the stomach flu.

And don't look now but Moonslav the game thread starter is going for 4 in a row ! Bring it home big guy !

Did not take Crawford long to give up the HR to the most obvious player on the Royals. KC not held back by the 1st inning blues. Sox in familiar territory, playing from behind.

The opportunity for a WooSox infield enhanced when O'Neill goes on IL for a leg infection, and Enmanuel Valdez returns.

Another curious move is sending cam Booser to Worcester to make room for Chris Martin, who I predict won't last very long before his elbow is sore again.

Interesting comments on NESN on how Cora and Bailey are working with Crawford who is one of the best at getting to 0-2 on hitters, but not so sharp on closing the batter out. Immediately Crawford gives up an 0-2, 2 out RBI single.

More of a puzzler is that Booser been pretty effective.

Booser has been one of our most reliable pitchers, but the other options might have been Bernardino or Wink.

It's amazing I tell ya.

How many middle infielders did we put out there before Romy, this year?

Story & Grissom

Short & Reyes

Rafaela & Valdez

DHam & Westbrook

Sogard has played since the Romy call-up.

(We even played Wong at 2B in 4 games.)

Our bench has carried us.

Romy is similar to finding a working McIntosh amp in a dumpster.

He is the kind of guy I expected Bloom to find 10 of.

Another SOX Jansen comes thru.

I assume you mean it was a PB and not a WP. I agree.

Crawford seems to think an 0-2 count is an invitation to stop throwing strikes, at least until the count gets to 3-2.
