This is probably a 1-0 game with Crawford's 0.66 ERA and Imanaga's 0.84 ERA . More likely a Fenway slugfest 12-8.

Cora acknowledged the Fenway W-L deficit for the past few seasons and was going to do something about it. Had to do with the atmosphere in the Park.

The Sox have only played 10 of their 26 games at Fenway (3-7), so the remaining schedule is loaded (+6) towards home games. The ability to win at home may not be an intangible. Familiarity with a peculiar field layout, sleep at home with a select partner, and having final AB's for a walkoff win, all contribute to home field advantage.

I'm no expert, but I doubt that Cora can do anything whatsoever about the "atmosphere." When the Sox had that roughly 10 year run of max attendance (about 37-38K/game) at Fenway Park, the Sox always had plenty of stars to come see. Plus they were getting into the postseason and even winning an occasional WS.

That stopped, interestingly, in 2013, the year the Sox won their 3d WS in the JH era, but averaged just 35K attendance. Because of the WS win, in 2014 it climbed back to 36K, but not to full attendance--and it stayed their through 2019, including 2018, the best season in Sox history.

Then came covid--as well as JH's determination to spend less on players--and Sox attendance this year is just 31 K in the first 10 games.

Interestingly, the Phillies can't keep their fans away and are currently ranked 3d in MLB attendance with 38K/game. Just 7 years ago they averaged 24K.

I think Vegas was being facetious with that comment.

Poor Raffy still at the DH spot. He seems to be running the bases alright, so his ass should be back at 3B. I guess Cora feels the need to keep Pablo, or Bobby D in the lineup instead.

Earlier today the SOX FO signed free agent pitcher Sal Romano to a minor league contract. And to think that yesterday I had posted that this FO wouldn't do anything regarding the injury epidemic. My apologies to all concerned.

So sad that Abreu has no 1st base, 2nd base or 3rd base experience.

He’s probably out of the lineup by design against a tough lefty

This season it seems about the only thing the Sox can do safely, with minimal risk of injury, is breathing. Story is out for the season because he dove for a ground ball. Casas swung the bat too hard, tore a cartilage in his rib cage, and could be out for months. Pivetta, Whitlock, and Bello are on the IL because they threw baseballs. At least Devers and O'Neill can say they collided--heads, in fact. Giolito is missing the season because he too was foolish enough to throw a baseball in ST.

And Dalbec, whose OPS is the lowest in the history of baseball--at any level--is a regular for the Sox because his defense is pretty decent and because he is healthy.

That sums things up pretty well.🤫

Sal Romano, good baseball name. Who cares that his cumulative WAR is negative?

Healthy, but with bad vision. I am convince he cannot see the ball accurately to hit it well or often. He may also have psycho problems due to his performance pressuring him. I wonder if they ever put him up against a live ,capable pitcher to test his ability to see the ball under no pressure. BP is not near the same as seeing live pitching from any MLB level thrower.

What an infield!

1B: Dalbec .246 (Bad on D at 1B)

2B: Valdez .427 (Bad on D at 2B)

SS: Rafaela .483 (Okay on D at SS)

3B: Reyes .428 (Bad on D at 3B)

Give Ceddanne some time to get going, moon. He’s giving me early career Pedroia vibes. The Laser Show is coming

Been pretty fun watching this team so far... at least interesting.... I mean it feels like an absolute miracle beyond explanation they are over .500 at all.

They cumulatively just gave up the 3rd run tonight. The Sox cannot play a AAAA infield for weeks on end , expecting defensive support for a pitching staff that may be returning from its recent trip to the moon
