@redsoxstats

Marcelo Mayer's 90th percentile exit velocity is 106.5 mph so far this year. Last season in MLB, that would have ranked 77th/396. A lot of very strong under the hood metrics for Mayer so far.

On Anthony:

@redsoxstats

His metrics are crazy, as of recently, his 90th was second in all of Double-A w/ very good discipline

Rafaela, Abreu and DHam graduated from prospect status on soxprospects.com, so we saw some attrition on their rankings for May. Zanetello jumps 4 spots (really just 1.) He humped over Sandlin

Fitts jumped over Wikelman to #6.

Yorke stayed at 11, but others passed him (Sandin & Zanetello)

Paulino jumped from 19 to 15, passing Jordan and Hickey, who both fell, despite higher ups coming off the boards..

Slaten jumped. a lot (20 to 12)

Others:

Zeferjahn from 46 to 31

Early 47 to 33

Jh Garcia 49 to 35

Benitez 54 to 44

Lugo NR to 50

Gambrell from 32 to 28.

Troye 34 to 41

Ian Cundall gave a real mealy mouthed response about why Slaten jumped to 12 after saying they'd never let a reliever be higher than 20.

Sometimes, their rankings are a little too volatile IMO as we've seen with Matthew Lugo.

I tried to watch the Greenville game, but it had no sound. Really brutal. Early let some runners on, but part of it is due to the shaky IF defense there. The IF defense in Salem and Portland is much better.

Van Belle let up 9 runs in 4 IP.

Zeferjahn: 2 IP, 3H, 0ER, 1BB, 2K

EValdez & Koloz homered, and Kavadas went 2-2 w BB

Woo won the second game 4-0 as Shugart pitched 5 scoreless.

Kavadas homered (1.107)

POR lost 3-2 as Dobbins did okay (5IP 2 ER)

Mayer homered (1-3) w BB

Teel had a 2B (1-4)

Anthony 2-4

Yorke is a hit first mediocre 2b with a 737 OPS in his second go around in AA so far.

Blaze Jordan was drafted for light tower power, but he's morphed into a contact hitter who struggles with velo.

Miguel Bleis has all the tools you would want, but has never put it together. There's a little bit of unluckiness there for sure, but he needs to at least show something in game.

The Sox system is highly rated because it has a lot of depth, not because it has a bunch of highly rated guys. Aside from the big 3, I'm not sure there's a lot of trade value there.

Zanatello and Cespedes look like big upside guys but in each case it is very, very early.

Johanfran Garcia was moved to the full season IL list and is done for the year. :(

What a shame.

What is the injury?

Does this get you to have some hopes he can make an impact in the bigs?

It depends on Casas' outlook and the continued suckitude of the guys they bring in like Smith and Cooper. He's still a platoon bat with a long swing. Maybe it could work? Hard to say if they want to give it a shot. He's still hitting really low in the order whenever I watch.

Posted
Realists would say he's half bad vs. lefties. Fakests would say he's twice as good vs. righties.

Good thing for Kavadas, batters face RHPs about 65-70% of the time.

Speaking of the surging Kavadas, who batted him 7th, tonight.

He doubled (1-4 w 3 Ks)

They are losing 6-4 in the 9th.

POR lost 5-3, but it looks like Mayer is heating up. He homered, last night and went 3-4 with 3 doubles and a BB. Too bad Anthony was 0-5 in front of him. Teel was 2-4 behind him w a BB. Yorke went 2-3 w a BB. Lugo is cooling off (0-4).

1.106 Lugo

.822 Mayer

.792 Teel

.750 Jordan

.749 Yorke

.699 Anthony

GRE lost 4-2

KCampbell doubled and walked in 5 PAs.

They are playing the second game, now. Perales 8 Ks in 4 IP (2ER)

JH Garcia homered for SAL, and they are up 4-2 in the 7th.

Mikey Romero went 3-5 for the FCL club (1.071)

... except in late innings of every close game the Red Sox play with their totally unbalanced lefty batting order.

Here are our L-R splits...

LHB

.751 v RHPs

.680 v LHPs

The split with RHBs is more pronounced:

.690 v RHPs

.725 v LHPs

The biggy is this:

games when a RHP starts: .757

games when a LHP starts: .618

Winklemen was all over the place, he walked a bunch of batters. Whenever he got a pitch in the strike zone, he got a lot of white with it
