The matter was settled between Bauer and his accuser from I remember. That's NOT being proven innocent in a court of law. Charges weren't even brought against him. I only took one class and am not a lawyer, so what do I know...

All good points, as "innocent until proven guilty" is indeed the American doctrine, but it's not the same here, especially with domestic/gender violence issues. Here you get thrown in the slammer and you have to be proven innocent, so touche.

 

On a side note, being weary of the other crap is fair, but Bauer's not an idiot, and he knows that if he signs with a team, he'll be walking on thin ice, and certain provisions could be included in his contract.

Sox have taken so many PR hits recently, I can't imagine what would happen if they signed Bauer. He needs to sign with the Pirates on low dollars for a year and exhibit good behavior and have every see him on tv then get a bigger contract elsewhere in '25.

You are quick to defend Bauer in all these posts that keep coming up, so I have to doubt how much you do and don't care about what he does. If you didn't care, there'd be a Bauer post or two that would pass by with out you dogpiling on. For a long time, I didn't post about Bauer. If I really had some sort of "hatred" for him as you suggest, it probably would have been hard for me to not post about it since I'm on here almost every weekday from 8-4 with nothing seemingly better to do.

 

If you make millions of dollars and piss it all away in the manner that Bauer has, you are an idiot in my book.

Tanner was the real problem on the Bears. He'd never make a modern roster with that racist, blasphemous mouth of his (though the Red Sox designed a Pedroia after his fire).

 

Maybe Tanner wouldn't make a good teammate today, but at least he could run for president.

Bauer was not found innocent or guilty in a court of law as the DA never pressed charges. At no point was he found "innocent." The case was not brought forward by the DA as it was just determined there wasn't enough evidence to find him guilty. Bauer and the accuser settled their civil cases against each other.

Not Bauer per se. But I've seen enough cases of dum-dums getting screwed by gold diggers for it to strike a nerve. On another note, as a pitcher, I think he could be an asset to the Red Sox.

Franco is in jail, just so you know. So the instruction court has already found probable cause for his guilt, albeit under the circumstances I stated before, where in this issue *here in the Dominican Republic*, you are guilty until proven innocent.

I wasn't comparing the two per se. I was just stating how you can say that OJ was found innocent. It's a well known case. He was arrested. Found not guilty in a jury trial. He had a civil trial afterwards.

 

I was just trying to point out the legal definitions and add clarity.

I'm not thinking he's guilty of anything illegal. We will probably never know all that happened with any degree of certainty, but he was not found guilty of anything, so I would not be upset with the team that signs him.

While I agree and think Bauer is done in MLB, I cannot look at him the same since settling in civil court is very, very different than being found not guilty in criminal court. Civil court is about personal squabbles that are not necessarily legal matters…

Also, he's a low velo guy and gives up too much hard contact. He's a little overrated. Not a top of the rotation guy IMO. Fine for a #2. Great for a #3. Probably would be a headache for the coach, especially if they are a lame duck like Cora. He did a great job at marketing himself prior to the current issue.
