Monty is desperate to go back to Texas according to virtually all the journos. Which probably he means he ends up at NYC, yes.

Or the Dodgers…

He certainly was near the top in risk factor.

Yeah I’m not sweating losing Imanaga. I know nothing about him at all and have more faith in Giolito.

I didn’t like losing out on Gray, and don’t think I will be too happy when we lose out on Montgomery…

I think maybe you are not so down on losing out on Imanaga, because you are rather high on Stroman.

He and the Yankees are looking close.

Reportedly Stroman approached the Yankees and was rebuffed. Since the tYankees were not in on Imanaga, I’m not sure anything there has changed…

The Yankees have emerged as the top candidate to sign Marcus Stroman, source says. I’m told the sides have had productive discussions in recent days.

We will cover the latest details on

@MLBNetwork this morning.

This was a little while ago. As with everything this off season - treat with copious amounts of salt.

This one is probably a done deal.

Stroman will not sign with the Red Sox. Boston is too racist in his opinion.

At 32, don't be so sure. He turns 33 in May.

He has been pretty consistent and has started 25+ games, the last 3 seasons.

3.45 ERA

122 ERA+

3.60 FIP

That's just too good for the Sox.

The only issue with Stroman is the later day injury bug. Wonder how long his deal will be for.

2 years guaranteed plus a bunch of bells and whistles, probably.

Sox told them they'd have to dump more salary to afford the whistle.

I have a question for the small-business owners on this forum: when you feel indifference toward your product and contempt for your customers, do you still keep going? Is, say, the desire to make money and the interest of dealing with employees etc. enough? Serious question. In all my work-related experience, when I get to this point, I either quit or move on to something else.

If you are still making money, hand over fist, you stay in the game. Maybe you hire someone to handle the BS, and maybe hit cruise control.

Maybe I sell, as the asking price should be high.

I will reiterate my thoughts: Henry is gearing up to sell the team. Something doesn't add up.

I used to run a kiosk (4 employees + myself), when I lived in Mexico City. I also ran a small English as a Second Language class. I won't count day-trader as one.

The Red Sox are The Olde Towne Team to us. To John Henry, they are just another investment. Just like his hedge funds.

He didn’t have as many other investments when he bought the team, but now he has a lot more, and the Red Sox isn’t as shiny a bauble anymore.

Unfortunately, you have to be one rich SOB to own a major sports team.

It's still pretty darn shiny, mind you, with an estimated current market value somewhere around $5 billion.

Hmm. Grim thought as it applies to RS. What you're saying is that the 'business' at some point means no more than, say, some investment my bank or broker makes. It's just money and means nothing that affects one emotionally or viscerally (and thus someone like JH can just keep going happily as long as the $ keeps coming in).

He called MAZZ before when the rumors he was going to sell crept up. He's refuted them every time, including last offseason.

I was talking about my small business ventures, not a business like the Sox.

I will say, I don't think JH is much different from other business owners making tons of money.

Not only does he make tons of money, every year, the value of his investment has increased by near 500% in 20 years.
