The 2002-2013 was much better to be a Red Sox fan. It's not close. And that's even setting aside the specific nature of 2004 (the most emotionally satisfying title any team has won ever).

That said, I do understand your feelings about the Dodgers the last decade. That used to be us - a fertile farm system to produce our stars along with deep pocketed ownership who filled in the gaps. It's nice to have a team always in the mix - and frankly Boston fans deserve that given the outlay etc.

Why do we deserve it more than other cities?

BTW, I'll take the 2014-2023 stretch over '72-'01, ten times over.

Yes, 2004-2013 was awesome!

Why don't they deserve an owner that wants to win?

Fine, throw out the bottom 10 budget teams, except the Rays, and there are still 10+ teams that all have fanbases that have legitimate gripes about not winning rings and really not trying hard to.

IMO, we have not tried hard to win since 2018. I think this all began when JH let KImbrell and Kelly go, without trying to replace them in kind. It's been 5 full years. Other cities have gone way longer than that.

Don't get me wrong: I want JH to snap out of his funk and join the big boys, again. I'm just saying, I think we have become spoiled, to some extent.

The fan base seems angrier, now than during all the gaffes and heartbreaks from the decades before JH .

Maybe fans are angry about The Sham.

You still don’t get it at all. Spoiled? How does not liking finishing in last place 3 out of the last 4 years being spoiled? I’ll answer it for you it isn’t. Red Sox fans don’t expect a WS title every year, but they do expect a winning, competitive team every year.

You still don’t get it either it’s what have you done for me lately, and the future is now. Just, because the Red Sox have won 4 WS under JH tenure does not give him a free pass for ANY last place finishes, nor does it give him a free pass to trade away a popular future HOF in the prime of his career. Like it, or not JH is not a popular owner, and it won’t change until the Red Sox become respectable again, and win more than they lose, and get into the postseason, and not some organization that HOBO candidates one after another turn down the Red Sox for even a interview. The fan base has all sorts of reasons to be angry, and not all of them by a long shot has seen all the heartbreaks of the many years before JH owned the team, so none of that matters to them. The fans are always something to you from crybabies, and spoiled to many others. You just don’t get it, but hey maybe the Red Sox will be winners again in 2027.

Sometimes the grass is greener simply because of all the fertilizer. I’m calling BS on that poll.

We were also-rans for a bunch of years and no one liked it. Heck, people freaked out at the Bloom hiring because they thought we were going to be Tampa North. Tampa has 5 straight postseason appearances - a streak the Red Sox have never had in their 120 year history. But still, no one wanted to be the Rays.

I bet if that question was reversed and Boston’s last 10 years was one titled and a slew of near misses, and the Dodgers had two titles and a slew of bad seasons, and that same crowd was asked that question, you’d get the exact same answer. After all, none of us from 1918 trough 2004 were saying “just one more ALCS appearance before I die.”..

Maybe if the Dodgers WS wasn't the 2020 season it'd make sense, but they only time they won was a year that fans couldn't show up? That's what you want to hang your hat on?

Agreed. At least Pirates fans know there is no effort and no hope. The team is not trying to sham them into thinking it will change.

It's all so black and white with you.

Where did I say it was okay to like finishing in last place?

Your whole "you still don't get it..." shpeel is old and tired, and it's usually followed by something that is your opinion and not a fact, and whether the majority on your corner agree with you or not, it doesn't make it true.

I'm not happy with us losing, but 29 teams do, every year, and more than half miss the playoffs, every year. Many teams have missed the playoffs more often than we have, even over these past 4-5 years.

You feel we are entitled to win and should cry and mona and call for heads to roll, if we don't. You "still don't get it."

All that matters is the Big Corner agrees with Red, so it's a fact.

He won't answer the question about which record he'd rather have over the last 21 years, without twisting his answer into 4 years with Boston and 17 with LAD, which in itself is absurd. We were better in more than just 4 years.

I heard a poll today, which was what team would you want to be the last 10 years.the Dodgers with 1 WS title, or the Red Sox with 2 WS titles, but all those last place finishes. You guessed it the the Dodgers won, because they were more competitive for those 10 years every year. Not what you would have picked I know.

Who cares? Seriously.

Cherington said via TribLIVE’s Kevin Gorman. “Also shared with them that we’re trying to win here as fast as we possibly can.”

Cherington also said in a separate clip, “The only message is what we’ve already said. And that is that we want to win as fast as we possibly can. … We are all focused on winning as fast as we possibly can. We all have a role in that. It certainly starts with me. I’ve got to do my job. Everybody in the clubhouse has to do their job. That’s our focus.”

Is that the same as what Kennedy, Bloom & Co have been saying?

"Want" vs "will" is a big difference.

Are you really comparing the Rangers to the Dodgers? The poll I heard was very clear, and the Red Sox did not win out. I wonder why.

No. I’m hanging my hat on the Sox hat on the Sox fans wanting just one title for decades above all else and being willling to settle for anything afterwards just to get that. I don’t make any pretense about the 2020 title being legitimate or not. Because it is legitimate, and I wouldn’t lessen it if the Sox had won it…

The "you" was "MLB fans" not "notin." Sorry for any confusion.

I'm not sure. I'm calling the My Pillow guy right now because I have a feeling the voting was rigged.

An opinion poll is rigged, because it doesn’t match your opinion? Pretty par for the course on here. As usual as talksox goes so doesn’t the Nation.

It was just one little poll that you guys are making such a big deal about. Run free, run wild with it.

Why is it that only your opinion is what matches the majority of Red Sox Nation? When I go other places, I'm not surrounded by Old Reds. I see a variety of opinions.

Also, obvious jokes are obvious.

I'm sure when you read it, it made a nice little pole for you.

The little poll on I saw, and heard on TV seems for some reason to bother you so much, because it doesn’t match what your opinion would be. All I say is that most of what I hear outside of here rather it be tv, radio, newspaper, or in person pretty much does not match what I hear on here most of the time. I have said what I hear either at PF, or the bowling alley comes from different fan bases even Yankee fans, so I hear all kinds, and have said many times I like to hear as many opinions as I can get even from Mazz, or Shaugnessy that you guys go off on. Pretty funny.

I can disagree with the poll, BECAUSE 100% OF THE POLL DIDN'T VOTE ONE WAY. Clearly, my opinion would have been the minority vote in that poll, but I guess my vote doesn't count. I thought this was a democracy? One person, one vote!
