Game over

Just one more brainless effort tomorrow then hope for Cleveland and Detroit to split.

One more hold your nose year then they better be competitive or the call will go out for Henry to sell the team.

Great job by Kutter tonight.

He could be a good #5 SP on a team with a decent rotation. Basically right now we have Bello and four days of hoping for rain. Chris Frail will find some other injury next year. Besides that we got crap SPs.

I've already made an offer to buy the club. My complete collection of The Grateful Dead and my complete collection of The Replacements. I'm hoping to hear a response from JH.

Toss in a couple of Led Zeppelin vinyls and I’ll bet he’d take it.

1 for 9 with RISP , this has been a Sox speciality this season

Well, they also specialized pretty well in getting injured. But I do agree, the SOX have made timely hitting as difficult as putting toothpaste back in the tube.

I don’t know who the GM is, but all I want is someone to address starting pitching, defense and that he loathe Llovera, Ort, Jacques, Weiss and Garza as much as I do.

He can also hate Gillaspie and Mills, but I have admit I’m indifferent on them…

Bello has been over 5.20 for his last 14 starts.

I believe the SOX can obtain one quality starter via a trade involving Dugo and 2 top prospects. Another quality starter would have to be thru FA. I don't see the SOX going after a 3rd quality starter.

I know every team ends up using scrub pitchers during the long season, and some end up doing okay. Some like Brasier suck for one team, then do well for another.

I just wish we could limit how many and how often we end up using these guys.

We used 30 pitchers, this year (plus Reyes.) I wouldn't call these 14 scrubs: Bello, Pivetta, Crawford, Sale, Houck, Paxton, Wink, Whitlock, Kluber, Martin, Schreiber, Jansen, Kelly and Joely. They were expected to pitch.

Bleier 5.28 in 31 IP and Brasier 7.29 in 21 IP were both thought of as scrubs by most of us before the season started.

That leaves 16..

Scrubs that did okay: 1

Bernardino 3.26 in 50 IP

Scrubs that showed a little promise (at times): 1

Murphy 4.91 in 48 IP

Scrubs who might deserve another look: 3

Robertson 6.55 in 11 IP

Walter 6.26 in 23

Weiss 2.08 in 9

Scrubs I don't want to see pitch for us, again: 11

Llovera 5.46 in 30

Jacques 5.06 in 27

K Ort 6.26 in 23

Garza 7.36 in 18

Barraclough 12.91 in 8

Sherriff 2.70 in 7

Dermody 6.75 in 4

T Scott 4.91 in 4

Littell 9.00 in 3

Faria 22.50 in 2

Lamet 13.5 in 2

That's almost 130 IP from the scrubs of the scrubs- these last 11.

There is still hope!! With a big win tomorrow the Red Sox can match the wonderful 2022 W-L record of 78-84, 6 full games below .500 , ending a miserable September. Given the utter lack of improvement in the only meaningful stat ,W & L's, it is no longer surprising that the nerd Bloom got fired.

Many enjoy beating the dead horse that Chaim became but as more and more comments get out , some of the guesses as to conflict between Bloom and Cora, plus Bloom's "can't pull the trigger" paralysis of the analysis mentality , and his corresponding lack of people skills are all in the narrative. I expect some juicy off season examples to come out.

We can only hope for the best and be prepared for the worst.

Splints, that's Bloom Era talk. The steward of suckitude is gone.

Look forward... unless Henry and Co. stay internal and promote -- then, there's really no hope for change.

Don't worry, though; Sam will still tell us it will be Craptacular!

There's no question that Story is the best defensive SS I've ever seen on the SOX.

You mean he helps the defense at the plate?

With 2 last place finishes in a row I believe we're already prepared for the worst.

Not to mention 6 for 12.

We're batting .500 in finishing last over a 12 year period.

Oh, yeah, defense is what this game is all about. What a crock!

Hitting and pitching are the sine qua non for any MLB team.

You guys all bought into the thesis that Kike at SS was just killing the Sox, but the Sox had a winning record with Kike in the lineup. Now we have a good defensive SS in Story and a losing record with him in the lineup.

The Sox are losing this season because the hitting and pitching are both subpar.

2 runs on 14 hits is slightly better than 1 run on 13 hits. Both are very difficult to achieve, but the SOX of late have made it into an art form.

Last night they put on a singles dance.

Defense is more of an X factor, Max, not quite as obvious but can be significant. Every metric shows our defense has gifted a lot of runs to the opposition this year.
