It wouldn’t surprise me at all if this isn’t close to the opening day lineup next year. The biggest question mark would be if Dugy is still here.

I agree. If there's a new GM, he's gone. If Bloom is here, he doesn't find a trade partner and sits on Verdugo until he reaches FA.

Without JT, and Duvall, and if Story Land doesn’t somewhat get his bat working again some RHB with some pop will be needed.

I believe he'll be better next year. This is definitely a lost season for him.

He could be "better" next year and still be a weak bat. The real question is whether his OPS gets comfortably over .800. Rafaela so far is a partial solution to the righty bat issue--as Story could also be.

After those two--and assuming Duvall and Turner are gone--I don't see a lot of righty prowess and even less righty power. Abreu, Dugo, Yoshida, Devers, Casas, and Duran are all lefty bats. And Fenway is best suited for righty bats.

Thanks. That's what I was afraid of. Have to wonder about the rest of the team, especially the bullpen.

Wasn’t Bernardino out with it for a few days in the past week or 2?

You going to change the date/time to 14 Sep, 1:35?

You believe a $200 million player can hit over .180?

Ceddanne getting doubled off second on a line-drive is an organizational sign.

Meh. I agree the baserunning has been lousy, but that was pretty much a guaranteed double play. A hard hit liner to the 3d baseman's left, the 2d baseman moving to cover 2B, and Rafaela with a lead and absolutely no chance to get back.

Sox already 1 for 5 with RISP. The 1 was Abreu's defensive swing on a ball way outside--that softly fell in front of the leftfielder for the Sox' only run.

Too bad nobody else is watching this game. If they were, I would ask them to answer this simple question--

Given that just about everyone on talksox--except me, of course--believes Houck is incapable of getting anyone out the third time through the lineup, who besides me wants him to come back out to pitch the 6th inning?

He got two guys out the 3rd time through. That is astep in the right direction.

88 pitches might be on the high end. I'd hate to see him get hurt, but I would like to see, if he can get over this hurdle. (not that one game would prove anything.)
