Eddie Romero did what Bloom was unable to do.

More good news from this month:

Barraclough, Arroyo and C Hamilton elected free agency.

I can only assume that stands for Destined For Allstar. I mean it has to considering how they clung to him last year…

The Dodgers will nab him, tweak a simple thing, and he'll be the next Brasier.

If all these Sox players like Brasier, Eovaldi, Martinez, Hernandez, Wacha, etc. just got much better once they left Boston - and they appeared to do so - shouldn’t this say something about Cora?

Then, there is Pivetta, Schreiber, Refsnyder and besides, most of the guys on your list had their best or one of their best 1, 2 or 3 seasons under Cora.

Except, think about what San Diego gave up for Soto?

But how many years of team control were they gaining at the time vs what they’re giving up now? They should expect a much lighter return than what they paid

That was for 2 1/2 years of Soto. If they deal him now, they’re giving up one year…

So roughy, 40% the return they should expect

Probably a little more, because San Diego hopefully won’t make the Sox eat half of David Price’s deal…

True, that was rough math. The point is the same either way. You're not getting anywhere near as much for 1 year of Soto as opposed to 2.5 years of Soto.

I seriously doubt we'd give up just Mayer for Soto, even if they paid $10M or so.

Someone like Mayer should never even be thought of for trading for 1 year of a guy, not unless you have ten Mayers.

Or, if you have an extension framework worked out, which doesn't happen, anymore.

BTW, I am not for trading Mayer for Soto. I was just saying it would not take the 3 prospects mentioned to get him. I doubt the Sox would offer him, anyway. They might give Dugo & Rafaela for him- maybe Yorke & Rafaela.

Mayer was a top 5 prospect in all the game. Has anyone that highly regarded every been traded for 1 year or less of a player???

No. It's crazy talk. But it is Talksox, after all.

It doesn't matter if you have an extension of a framework worked out. The value of Mayer over the next 6 years is higher than Soto for 1 year.
