how is it that we can see that but Bloom can't?

Bloom gave up on this team. Wake was commenting on it earlier. The need for pitching was obvious and Bloom did nothing to address it. He knows that the team isn’t competitive so why surrender any prospects at all?

Wake said it sends a clear message to the players, which it does.

Unfortunately the message is accurate.

I wonder what the crowd was like at Fenway tonight. Looked full.

Hard to be a contender when a team has a bullpen of cow s***. Trust me on this one. I know it sounds unnatural.

Don't get me wrong; the SOX have a couple of long relievers who've been decent. It's the short relievers, except for Martin and Bernardino, who've stunk up the joint.

When Toronto lost it’s closer they went out, and got one. When Toronto lost their SS they went out, and got one. Big difference.

I think the announcers said that the pen has the 8th best ERA in baseball.

Just be happy knowing the SOX have a top 5 farm system. However, if the ranking was just based on prospective pitching, the SOX would have a bottom 5 farm system.

Would you want them to trade away some top prospects in a futile attempt to make this team good?

Two years. They could compete for a ring in two years.

That was a huge loss.

Backs are against the wall.

There’s still plenty of time to catch the Jays. And reinforcements are on the way.

But realistically we aren’t as good as the O’s or the Rays. The best we could hope for is grabbing the last playoff spot then getting an early exit.

I don't think I said that. I was just explaining that, as usual, the SOX best prospects are non-pitchers.

Why are the Sox paying Trevor Story to play in AAA?

The earlier projection was he would be in the SOX line-up starting tonight. From what I've just read he won't be brought up for any of this Jays' series.

Wink and Jansen suck?

Yup, We are very much "in it," but we made it much tougher with tonight's loss.

Wink has been a long reliever along with Murphy. I posted that the long relievers have been decent. Jansen is the closer and he's been good. I just didn't include him in the short reliever list. I should have I guess.

"Very much?" I guess that will depend on Sale, Houck, Whitlock and Story and how they perform and how long Sale and Whitlock can stay healthy. So, "very much" may be a bit too optimistic. And then there's the SOX 'bipolar' offense to contend with.

I hate it when I am the optimist here!

There’s almost two months of baseball left and we are only three games out. Sure, it would have been nice to win this game but there’s a lot of baseball left-and reinforcements are on the way.

The "outta here" guy is the optimist here? That's really funny.
