MLB trade rumors should be called " MLB trade reports." They seldom have rumors that actually come to pass. But they are usually the first to report on trades after they happen.

Actually Rotoworld is quite often faster…

Rays making trades.

Jays making trades.

Astros making trades.

Angels making trades.

Rangers making trades.

Red Sox?

Mariners, too.

Red Sox, Yankees and (for some reason no one understand) Orioles have been deathly silent…

SPer options are dwindling but some are still out there.

My guess is Bloom is working the phones and will make a couple minor moves- maybe one moderate one.

Orioles sold at last year's deadline when they should have added. That they have stood still is a plus!

Sox and Yanks probably should sell IMO. Teams ahead of them have bought too much. Prices are high.

@redsoxstats

Robert Murray says there continues to be a lot of interest in Duvall, it's possible teams could pivot to Paxton and offer a package they can't refuse, and he's heard Bloom has been creative in trade talks.

The minor move would be to obtain MiLBers.

MLB Trade Rumors rarely offers original reporting. It's an aggregator that relays secondhand information that typically originates from an organization that employs real reporters.

MLBTR sells goods produced by others by summarizing under a Fair Use Doctrine. The original source does not complain if MLBTR provides a link that increases traffic to the original source.

In recent years MLB Trade Rumors has offered some analysis and commentary that can be distinguished from reporting.

In regards to Turner at 2b, it's not about simply defense. It's also about his age and health. Cora wants to take it easy on Turner and is worried that one wrong double play turn will take a huge cog out of the batting order. Turner is seen as a good fill in here and there, but won't be at 2b everyday.

Of course you're right. I did say, 2d time around, that Turner couldn't play 2b every day. Your points about his overall value and the dangers of getting injured at 2b only make that point stronger. On the other hand, I just think it's neat when he does (I think he plays 2B about 10% of the time) and even neater when he makes a great play like that glove flip toss recently.

I will say, if you hated hearing “Red Sox are in on…” and then nothing getting said player, this is the trade deadline for you.

This is quick and painless. Your quote just brought back flashbacks of bad trips through the past four free agent winters...

About one hour to go. Fenway full of crickets.

Granted blockbuster deals can and do come together quick and at the last minute - the Jason Bay acquisition in 2008, for example.

But I’m lacking faith here…

To be honest I haven't even heard anyone the Sox might be "in on". All I heard was we might trade Verdugo.

E-Rod just vetoed a trade to LA. What an idiot.

He has struggled with mental health issues. Going to LA would be a major cultural shock.

I’m not sure he’d accept a deal to BOS.

I guess his contract allows him to veto trades to 10 teams. If the Dodgers were on that list, you can assume the Red Sox were also on it

Maybe, but even if it is, he may or may not accept a trade to us.

Players on lower payroll teams often put higher paying teams on their NTC. I think the logic is he doesn’t want to play for LA for Detroit money…

Hadn't thought of that, but it makes some sense.

Maybe the Dodgers said we play to win here, you'll have to cover 1st base when needed.

But E-Rod is drawing a decent salary. He'd be one of LA's highest paid players.

It’s all I got. I’ve just noticed almost every NTC includes higher payroll teams…

He might not like LA.

Also, taxes are much higher, but I doubt it matters all that much.

If the Dodgers required that, they would likely have never talked about ERod…

Didn't some of us have this crazy idea that the Sox left some money under the tax cap to add at the deadline? Looks like Henry and Bloom are going to fool us again.

It would be a letdown.

You’d think we could add some teams salary dump for nothing in exchange.

Not surprised that the sox didn’t make any moves.

Same here. Henry and Bloom seem to be succeeding in reducing Sox fans' expectations.

Or at the last minute we’ll get some mediocre Scott Barlow type followed by a speech about how he just “fell into his lap.” A speech that might have made sense about Barlow about 4 mph ago…
