Let's face it, just about anything is possible with this hodgepodge Chaim has put together.

I don't think this was a terrible call. :)

We are on pace for 86 wins.

5 out of 15 picked 81-90 wins.

10 picked 71-80.

I think most of us have figured Sox fans have an affinity towards pessimism. Or....at least 1/3 of us have figured that out.

On pace for 86 with 34 to go. How many think we end up with...

88+

85-87

82-84

78-81

77 or less

(Remember, we have a very difficult schedule.)

I'm thinking 87 wins.

Wuss!

Is this your War Games moment?

If ya really want to know what I think, I think predictions like these are stupid and pointless. Betting is a whole different story. Betting is even more stupid, but at least it gets the adrenaline flowing.

It's just a fun guess.

There is no point in guessing how many games a team will win. Too many things can happen in the course of a season. What is really stupid is giving twenty to one odds that the Sox will not win a wild card when they are only four games back with thirty five to play. No one with any feel for the game would do that.

There might in fact be "no point in guessing how many games a team will win" but it's still kind of irresistable. So I voted for the losing record and am delighted I was/am probably wrong.

Still going with this?

I believe we are 7.5 out of a W/C now. time to call up some of the great prospects Bloom has acquired.

They need to be ML ready and on the 40.

Why would you bring up prospects before they are ready?

Rafaela and Abreu are already up. The other guys in the Top 30 in WOO (Fernandez, Valdez, Drohan, Mata) aren't going to move the needle. We've already seen what Valdez can and can't do. Mata is injured. Fernandez is just a bullpen arm. Drohan isn't pitching all that well in AAA and is probably not ready for MLB.

Late in '24, we could see Wikelman, Guerrero, Hickey and Yorke, but these guys aren't on the 40 man and are still in AA.

If it would do them some good, I'd have no problem DFA'in Llovera, garza or someone else to add them to te40 and have a look-see, but I don't see any value in calling up players not ready.

You're getting 'less wrong' each and every day.

Yeah, maybe it's time for a "How will the Sox do in September" thread.

I hope we don't go there.

Don't forget the 48 games in a row with just 3 off days, today being one of them. That's a brutal schedule and still has 21 days to run. The schedule has exacerbated the Sox pitching problems.

Less explicable is the problem with scoring runs because right now the Sox have some pretty decent lefty (Casas, Devers, Duran(IL), Yoshida, Dugo, McGuire) and righty (Duvall, Turner, Reyes(also IL), Wong, Refsnyder, and Story (who hasn't delivered yet)) bats.

Even the fielding has improved with the return of Story. In recent series vs the Dodgers and Astros, the Sox have made far fewer errors, but lost 5 of 6 games.

That's what's really frustrating IMO. We know the pitching situation is not ideal, but this team should score runs in bunches.

Sweep the hapless Royals and the mood will swing upwards again.

We lost 2 out of 3 in Oakland, so sweeping hapless teams in their parks is not our forte.

Not a chance. It's time for the offseason thread.

That's when I figured the Sox wouldn't be able to make a real run at this thing.

That was my actually. None of Bloom’s prospects are MLB ready. He must be pumped though going through the waiver wire to see what he can add for Pennie’s on the dollar.
