Only 6 more outs to nail this one down . At least it keeps the concept of a .500 team alive even if already pronounced brain dead

And which pitcher do we have that you are confident can shut down the Orioles-or anyone else for that matter.

Even odds we still lose this game.

I take that back. Since Brasier is in there’s a 90% chance we lose.

Barnes will shut them down.

Sox are 2 behind MN and 3 behind CWS for the 8th best record in the AL.

8th means: 7 teams worse/ 7 teams better.

8 games to go.

Something to play for!!! (LOL)

A losing record means you are a losing team no matter how many teams are ahead of you, or behind you. Playoffs?Did someone say playoffs? Not this year.

I am not trying to claim having the 8th best AL record negates the losing record.

I do think it would be a small accomplishment. If you don't, fine.

I guess the way I look at is last year they were 2 games away from the WS, and this year they have a losing record, so to me that’s taking a big step backward, and downward, and I really don’t care how many teams are worse than they are, and I really don’t think the players do either, but if you want to find any kind of silver lining, and to say it could be worse that’s fine.

Even if my team is out of it, I want them to win. It's why they keep keeping score, even when eliminated.

I keep watching to preview future regulars, and to see if veterans can finish up strong and reach personal milestones or goals.

Lately, I'm wondering if Devers wasn't hurt for two months, and just tried to make hard contact instead of swing out of his shoes in every AB, if he could've won the AL batting crown. A few more 4-for-4 games, and he'd be right behind the three leaders -- none of whom are very hot right now.

We all know the facts of the situation. The only thing any of us have any control over is our own attitude. Mine is still pretty positive, because we still have the 4 rings, and we still have a committed ownership with a lot of money to spend. We also now have some hope with guys like Bello and Casas.

Plus we have another wild offseason to look forward to on Talksox!

Same here. I was sweating out the 9th last night, hoping Barnes would hang onto the win.

Thank God it's such a great game in spite of all the BS.

As if there isn’t anyway, but there should be plenty to talk about this off season too.

in the past 12 years the last place finishers were, Yankees 0 Toronto 1 Rays 1 Baltimore 4 Red Sox 5 plus we got this year last place locked in, I guess no other teams have injuries which makes you automatically last, a real joke

I keep hearing from Yankee fans about 27 championships, what happened 50 and 60 years ago has no bearing on the present, all the record and today's product is 1 for 22, the past does not play better today, from 2000 to 2013 when Mariano retired they had their core intact with Jeter, Posada , Petitte and the crew and won 1 championship in 2009 and that's because Matsui who was retiring had the best series of his career, the point is the past does not put a better product on todays field and nothing is given for past rewards, you still have to play the game

No doubt. Our future is not tied to the past, except we have the same owner who has certain tendencies that may continue to lead to success.

I hope so, can't win every year but you can put a decent product on the field for enjoyable baseball, we do not have that now, it is reflecting with a lot of players who have no desire,

Our owner also has a history of tolerating a few last place finishes and sub tax line seasons in a row between ring years, so let's hope that aspect is on the way out going forward.
