It’s very hard to envision them getting one. This season might rest heavily on the shoulders (and elbows) of Sale and Paxton…

The key might be whether the bird that lands on Paxton is an eagle or a pigeon.

There was a huge drop off in talent after Contreras and Muller.

My kind of trade! One decent player/prospect and 5 scrubs to clear up roster space for promotions up the line.

Bloom is probably waiting it out to pick up the left overs so he can save 2 mil.

Finally someone figured out blooms strategy, I’m not kidding

I noticed old friend and perennial waiver-wire fodder Joel Payamps was somehow involved in that deal, likely only to free up a 40 man roster spot for Oakland…

Brewers farm was decimated after losing Hamilton and Binelas.

Give Sale the cream and Paxton the clear.

The Cleveland Guardians reportedly have signed catcher Mike Zunino:

$6M/ 1 year was something the Sox might have afforded, but I'm fine, if they spend it elsewhere and well.

Both are equally injurious to him. Ditto hummingbirds and condors…

I’m sure money is a factor, but if you can get a player on a 3 year deal (with an opt-out?) instead of a 10-12 year deal, is it worth waiting as well? Like the Twins with Correa last year…

I don't know. Do you think signing Correa for one year at $35 or $37.5 million would be a good deal for us? It wouldn't leave much under the tax line, so there's the first problem with it.

If it pushed the Sox into the postseason, are you for it?

Anyway, we know Correa isn't in the plans.

Chaim is going to spend his $40 million on 4 or 5 stocking stuffers.

None of us knows the plans.

9 months ago, was Story in the plans?

Maybe 3-4, but I agree.

SS $12M

SP $12M

RF $12M

C $4M

Under that hypothetical, sure.

And Correa was just an example of a player waiting and taking a short deal.

Someone like Eovaldi on a one year deal would not be a bad thing…

Barring a 1st year arb catcher, are any of them at $4mill upgrades over McGuire?

And $10mill last year. So $14mill for one year…

I think if you sift through the somewhat confusing reports they finally figured out it was "only" $6 million for last year, so $10 million total.

Yes, there might be some decent deals left. Sure hope so...

Me too. I’d prefer not relying on them, however…
