If you guys were managing the team it'd be mayhem. You'd be making out lineups based on the previous game.

Ha, I was thinking about my own hot streaks -- when I'm on a roll, I never want a day off, lest my luck runs out or I have muscle forgetfulness...

Two astounding back to back games at a time when the Sox rotation is a shambles and--according to Sox Prospects--a middle reliever emerges as the Sox ace starter (although his 5 innings vs. the Rays were in relief). In both cases the hitting came through, and in one case, last night, the bullpen completely outpitched the Yankees bullpen and against a tougher lineup.

I am not prepared to say the Sox are on the same level with the Yankees. But a 2-2 split despite a decimated rotation is encouraging. So was the three game series in Toronto which I believe would have been won had Houck made the trip.

On the other hand--and I say this with the next 7 games being at the Trop and Yankee Stadium--here is the latest on the Sox rotation:

Pivetta, our best, has now been clobbered in 2 straight games.

Sale, our ace in the hole, walked 5 and threw a tantrum after his last AAA start, will nevertheless start tomorrow night in Tampa.

Eovaldi, Wacha, and Hill are still unavailable although Eovaldi might pitch this weekend in Yankee Stadium.

All three rookie starters--Winckowski (the best of the three), Seabold, and Bello--were clobbered their last times out.

Crawford, projected as a middle reliever, has now gone 10.1 innings vs. the Rays and Yankees while giving up 1 run. He is the Sox ace.

The flip side of this brilliant armchair strategy of "riding the hot hand" is that a guy like Duran who's cold would be buried on the bench, ensuring that he's basically dead meat by the time he ever gets to play again...

It’s always been that Duran has to hit to stay in the lineup, because he’s not out there for his D, so he wouldn’t be buried, and back to Worcester.

He's had 3 hitless starts in a row. You guys would probably have already demoted him.

No, but most of the talk I hear on here is you have to have D, and Duran is the worst OF of the bunch, so to me he has to hit more to stay there. At the moment outside of Dugy, and The Ref hitting against LHP you don’t have many options. Duran, and the Ref are only up, because of injuries. Kike wasn’t hitting much of anything either, and neither was Dugy for quite a while.

Refsnyder recently had an 0 for 12 skid. Fortunately Cora kept playing him...

Many wanted Dalbec benched or worse, last April, May and June. Cora kept playing him.

Renfroe sucked in April. Kept playing him.

Kike at lead-off? This board lit up. Cora kept playing him and leading him off.

There are some failure stories, too- like giving Marwin 250 PAs, but it has worked a lot.

I think many still want Dalbec benched or demoted.

I’d demote him if it was up to me. But that’s more related to Kike’s return, keeping Duran in the lineup, and not DFAing Franchy…

Still hanging on to the notion that Bobby D, and Kike are going to repeat last years performance. Me not so much, but Cora does give players plenty of rope.
