They did offer an early extension to Mookie, the one his mother talked him out of.

Mookie *seemed to* relish the role of the guy who's determined to make it to the free agency bonanza.

Yes, but that was later in the ballgame, not as early as the Rays or Astros have extended guys.

The Sox offered Mookie $300mill; he countered with $420mill.

I don’t think the Sox wanted to go to much above a $30mill AAV…

There are no excuses for not keeping Betts. He didn’t end up getting $420 million.

Dombrowski did the early lockup on Vazquez, not that anyone will throw a parade for that one.

And you can't really knock the extension with Bogaerts. The price was low so it's understandable Bogey got an opt-out as compensation.

I believe VAZ deserves more love than he gets around here.

I've been rough on Vaz, but when he his about .800 for a couple years in a row, he was not in my doghouse (that much, lol.)

He's been a big part of the offensive turn around and has gotten some key rbis.

(I'll be surprised, if he's back. We tried to obtain Stallings, this past winter- a great defender and "CERA" guy, apparently, so there is evidence, we are looking to move on.)

I think COVID and the whole situation baseball was in played a role in that. Nobody said he's get $420, but he likely would have gotten $350-360M in a normal FA winter, and it's obvious the Sox were set on or near $300M.

I wanted him back. I think I suggested longer and larger offers than anyone on this site, but it was never an easy call, and there are big advantages to never offering deals like that.

Now, I'm all "Devers Forvers," but depending on wat he ends up getting, I'm not so sure going extra LNL on him is the best way to go.

I've already resigned myself to no Bogey.

People talk about the Sox not being the Rays, but a better comp might be the Astros, and being like them, might not be so bad.

BTW, where did James Click get his start?

I feel like verdugo and hernandez are heading back toward their career norms.

Even Bradley is contributing with defense and hitting better than I expected.

As story keeps hitting, our offense will get more deadly.

Research Story’s batting average vs 95 mph pitching?

Then ask yourself this ? 20 million for Story over 6 or Jansen for 1 year

Since you posted this, Graterol has given up 6 runs in 2 innings. Priceless!

Much like Barnes hey Pinkhat!

When Bloom read the scouting reports before the Betts deal he must have closed his eyes

Graterol is a mediocre relief pitcher. Making a big deal out of him makes you look dumb. Which you are.

And Bloom first wanted him. Downs is a bust too.

Bloom thought he was a potential starter until he saw the medicals.

Downs isn't a bust yet. We'll see.

Lol

Graterol at the time would have been a better player with more upside than the garbage prospects Bloom ended up trading for

Keep throwing out the insults cus that’s all you got!

Now go get your shine box!

Downs is 24 hitting below .200 in a beer leaguer League

Keep posting pinkhat you’ll get one right sooner or later

You nailed it Clint Eastwood!

You F###in nailed it

Once in a lifetime Player is shown the door but hey, we got Story for 6 and 120, priceless!

Let’s not forget JDowns and to all you pink hats who don’t want to look up Story’s average vs 95 mph pitching because it doesn’t fit an argument

Wait, you call everyone pink hats and you say I'm throwing insults?

You're a gutless troll who won't even disclose who his team is.

At least JDavis76 is honest about that.

Hey STORK

Let's narrow down who your favorite team is.

How many rings have they won in the last 20 years?

It’s actually not .000.

He doubled off a 95mph Frankie Montas fastball 3 days ago. I’m sure wherever looked it up, you misread it or just couldn’t understand it…

It can't be hyperbole, either. He knows not what it is.

The problem with brown diaper fans like STORK is that they just need something to rant about. It's always a miserable day somewhere for them.

Is that our theory, he's one of them?

I don't think STORK is a Yankee fan, because they are usually not shy about it.

Sox are catching the Angels at the right time. They are a good team that is in total disarray . 13 game losing streak ! Maddon gets the ax. Playing without Rendon and Ward . Now Trout gets hurt. They are pressing and stressing . In clutch situations , swinging at pitches a foot out of the zone. Losing games every which way. It will be interesting to see if they can right the ship anytime soon.
