$65-70M to spend:

SS

RF

SP1

RP1

RP4

SP/RP (depending on where Whitlock is slotted)

At minimum, 5 slots to fill. This is assuming a likely decline at Catcher and DH and maybe a SP'er slot we fill with someone other than Bello.

Yes, "payroll issues."

You had a good recap on the 2023 payroll a little while ago. You should start a 2023 payroll thread.

Casas is the 1b. DH is not settled.

Possibly. Maybe even the best solution. But waiting for confirmation from Cora…

^ This amount also includes keeping Paxton. If they dump Paxton, they'd have 100M+ to spend which is the amount that moon would be comfortable with having to spend.

Paxton has a player option he is predicted to exercise. So we’ll know one way out another this week what his status is…

It’s buried somewhere in the Part I thread, but good idea. I’m at the Astros parade, now.

They cancelled school, today.

Does Boston do that?

Where are you getting that amount from?

They had about $115M leave via trade/FA/projected opt outs since last summer.

I've seen their current payroll and benefits at 165M with Xander. Take Xander out and that's 145M. Lux tax of 233 would mean there's 90M to spend.

I’ll check, later, but I had us at about $90M before the Kike signing. I didn’t think that counted Paxton, but it did estimate the arbs.

Lmao

Multi year offer to an injury riddled Pitcher on the table?

The dumpster diving continues

You don't even know what the numbers are.

What is your rotation next year? and what do you sign the guys for?

Wasn't he the guy that was crying about us not trading for the 5.23 ERA Berrios, or was that someone else?

Hugh, it's a waste of time trying to engage this drive-by troll in a conversation.

True, at other posters stick around.

Drive-by is the perfect analogy

Thad Ward should be of interest to several teams come next month’s Rule 5 draft. Currently no. 15 on our Boston Red Sox prospect rankings with a 40+ FV, the 25-year-old right-hander wasn’t added to the club’s 40-man roster — a decision that left Eric Longenhagen “a tad surprised.” Our lead prospect analyst explained that Ward “looked good in the Arizona Fall League, locating 92-94 mph fastballs while mixing in two above-average breaking balls… [and] looks like a possible bulk relief fit right now.”

Interesting read. Thanks.

Just wondering why this was placed in the "Fire Bloom" thread.

Posted
Because Bloom should be fired, if someone selects Ward?

LOL!

You can add it to the list of grievances when the time comes if Ward succeeds elsewhere.

I know Red's is a short one.

Seemed long enough to me. Or maybe it's been repeated so often that it just feels long.

Bloom to JH

But Mr. Henry you made me trade our best player, and I tried to get a big haul back for him, but it just didn’t work out as good as I thought. I thought Jeter was another Jeter, and this one just can’t hit AAA pitching for 2 years now, and Mr. Wong may just not be any better than a low level back up catcher.

Mr. Henry you never gave me a very big allowance, and I have to do most of my shopping at lawn sales, and bargain basements.

It’s also not my fault Mr.Henry that the team has been a losing-last place team two of my 3 years on the job, but we’ve been rebuilding, and hanging off a cliff, but don’t worry Mr. Henry I haven’t told our future HOF homegrown superstars Mookie, Raffy, and Bogey that’s what was going on, because I didn’t want them to think we were wasting away some of their prime years while that was going on.

Also Mr. Henry I know you are mad that I went over that bad tax line this year, and we didn’t quite make the post season this year, and also didn’t get us to a winning record either, but whoa wis me Mr. Henry, and give me one more chance, and I’ll try, and do better, so you will like me, and those bad, bad media like Mr. Shaugnessy won’t be on me all the time, and say all those bad things about me. It wasn’t like that back in Tampa where everyone was nice to me. To be continued.

You know why.

I think it was 2012, we protected Hassan and left Pressly and Fields unprotected. Both were selected and went on to do good things.

I would have protected Ward and DFA's someone on my 5 man list.

I’d have kept Ward and Wallace and DFAd Ort and Brasier…

Fields biggest contribution was being worth giving up Yordan Alvarez for…
