Pushed back a day due to weather, but LFG!

@SoxNotes

Nathan Eovaldi would become only the 12th pitcher to make 3 consecutive Opening Day starts for the Red Sox:

Jon Lester

Pedro Martinez

Roger Clemens

Dennis Eckersley

Luis Tiant

Bill Monbouquette

Mel Parnell

Wes Ferrell

Babe Ruth

Smoky Joe Wood

Cy Young

That sucks. I work from home tomorrow and was looking forward to watching while doing minimum work. Instead I'll be in the office Friday having to look at Gamecast.

Only the 12th, huh?

Quite the names on that list.

And, no offense to Nathan, but it illustrates that there can be a certain amount of randomness involved...

Yes, as injury prone as he is, he's not on opening day.

Nate was really good last year, but he's the worst name on that list.

He's probably in the ballpark with Bill Monbouquette.

Will be listening to 93.7 on the old fashioned portable radio while I work from home/watch Tiger at the Masters

Well, lets hope that the Red Sox win and Tiger gets his butt kicked!

LOL yeah, I can't really support Tiger after the mulligan he got on the car crash.

No, Monbouquette had a career 31.9 fWAR. He had 4 straight seasons above 4 fWAR. Eovaldi has only been over 4 fWAR once.

Which one? His love life? Or the actual car crash?

I stand corrected. I searched in vain for Bill M on Fangraphs.

I thought he'd be better than at least one of the guys mentioned, but Nate just doesn't have the long track record. Recency bias with 2021.

Both. But do you think if an ordinary Joe was going 85 in a 45 and got into a bad accident on a clear day that they wouldn't draw blood and investigate? Not even a ticket for Too Fast For Conditions? Can you say privilege?

Just talking about the car crash in 2021. He didn't really get a mulligan on the love life thing.

Oh I think Lindsey Vonn made for one helluva mulligan…

71 with a lot of terrific scrambling and good putting.

It was an accident. No one else was hurt. The most Tiger should have been nailed for was property damage, which is exactly what you or I would have been responsible for. What he did to his marriage was to me reprehensible, but for that he did not go unpenalized. Far from it, given he was very much a public figure when it happened.

Driving 85 in a 45 was not an accident.

Well, that's pretty serious. Forty freaking mph over the speed limit!!!! Instead of taking Tiger to a hospital--where at one point they thought they might have to take his leg--I guess they should have taken him to jail. Justice needed to be served.

I guess he got justice for driving 85 in a 45.

Yes, he was going 85 in a 45 zone. Incredibly lucky that there were no other cars in his path. To this day he has not been able to explain what happened, he just says he can't remember. They didn't test him for narcotics.

Mulligan!

And Tiger had a nasty precedent of driving under the influence of narcotics. Not recreational drugs, but powerful painkillers.
