Please God, no!

What is the logic here? Shaughnessy wasn’t available?

What a great 3 man booth that would be. Mazz, Shaughnessy, and anyone else. Great idea.

And once again poor, poor, and pitiful is MY words, and how you want to interpret is your problem if you want to make it one. I don’t care either way. I blame both sides, and you don’t. I’m not saying my opinion is right, and you are wrong, but that is my opinion. Either way it doesn’t change a thing. Just because I don’t think the players are poor, poor, and pitiful doesn’t mean you did.

I’d blame both sides, but one of them is trying to negotiate while the other is just shutting stuff down as they walk away from the table, and then blaming COVID…

Yes, "your words" that you say you don'ta gree with and this was the one thing you did not agree with me on.

This implies you think I feel players are poor and pitiful, and that's what you "disagreed with."

Do you honestly read your post, again, and not see how you wording shows you think I believe the players are poor and pitiful and you disagree with me on that?

If yes, I suggest you reread it closely.

See where the owners tried to sneak in a few things never even discussed- like a pitch clock, bigger bases and defensive shifts limited?

These guys are being so obvious about not negotiating in good faith. You'd think their lawyers would be more careful.

Some players said they think the owners think they are so dumb, they could slip it by them. This makes little sense, too, since the owners knew the players would never garee to this "best offer," anyway.

I think the game does need a pitch clock, and no defensive shifts, so I don’t see nothing wrong with that only that it hasn’t happened yet.

Go back to my original poor, poor players statement in response to you worrying about the players keeping up with inflation. It wasn’t implied then that you thought the players were poor, and poor, and it wasn’t my intent that you felt that way since. If I felt that you did I would have no trouble saying it.

Exactly. You implied I think they are poor and pitiful, then you say "I never said that. They were my words not yours."

Make up your mind.

I call you out for implying I think players are poor and pitiful.

You then say you never said that.

Now, you say I pretty much said that.

It's hard to have a discussion with you.

I do not come close to thinking anyone making $560K is poor. I am not pitying the players nor asking others to pity them. Not even close.

I've never come close to even implying that, like you just said I did.

Just because I take their side 100% does not mean I think they are poor or worthy of pity.

The fact is the owners are greedy bastards seeking to keep player salaries in decline, like they have for several years, now. That is not asking for pity. It's a statement of fact. I'm not implying the players aren't greedy, too, but it's about context- something you don't seem to agree with me on, which is fine.

The owners are negotiating in bad faith. They are trying to stiff the players bigtime after stiffing them the last time, too.

That's my opinion, and the owners actions, thus far are showing their true colors.

The players likely agree, but that was not the point. (BTW, I agree on 2 of the three. No restrictions on shifts. They did it for Teddy Ballgame. They can do it now.)

You don't just throw something into your final proposal that has never even been discussed.

Making a statement that players making an average salary of 4+M are not poor, poor players, and I was the one who made the statement, and I’m the ONLY one to know what I meant by that statement, and that was my opinion, and my opinion only. Now on the other hand you read the statement, and think I imply that you feel that way you are the only one to know how you feel, and I’m not going to change your mind, and at this point I don’t care. I never said Moon you think the players are poor, poor, and pitiful, and you can’t show me anywhere I did. You can show me what you think I implied, but that’s it, and nothing else.

You are right that these changes shouldn’t be thrown in at the end, but from all the different venues I hear, and read I think the majority would like a pitch clock, and an end to the shifts. Why would the hitters not want the shift ended?

Read your post. You clearly imply you are disagreeing with me. That implies I hold the opinion players are poor and pitiful.

Let’s move o .

My guess is hitters would not want the shift and pitchers would. Maybe 3bmen hate it.

I don’t think the rules should be changed

Like I’ve repeatedly said. I know what I wrote, and I know what I implied. I also know what I wrote, and I know what you think I implied, but I NEVER SAID Moon you said the players were poor, and pitiful, and if I did you would have shown me long ago. I have said I agree with everything you have said about the owners. I just blame the players just as much, and yes I know I’m in the minority, but that has never fazed me before, and it doesn’t now. Don’t try to be a mind reader, because you are not very good at it.

I just think it slows down the game, and 4 hr games are to long.

You're joking, I hope.

Only half joking. I think Mazz if it happens will be very interesting, and am shocked the Red Sox would try such a thing as much as Mazz has bashed the Sox, and John Henry through the years.

We all know what you wrote. It's clear as day. You agreed with everything except one thing, Then you went on to say what that one thing was.

It's not mind reading: it's reading comprehension.

I'm open to the idea you did not mean to word it that way, but what you said was interpreted correctly by me.

There are many ways to shorten the game. Changing the shift is a radical change to the rules and history of the game.

Do we go back and put an asterisk next to Ted Williams' stats denoting he hit is the shift era?

They showed on something I was watching that shifts increased by 50,00 in a ten year period. Now that is radical. I’m sure you could find that stat somewhere, and didn’t they count the sac fly as a time at bat when Ted hit 406? I don’t think an asterisk was put there.

Mazz sucks. Shaughnessy is a total jerk. I would never listen to them. It won't happen.

Wow! The name calling. I think it’s a great idea, and a refreshing change from some of the hometown yuckers they have had on there.

Yes, but I’m not calling them that in a negative sense like sucks, and jerks. There is nothing wrong with being a homer, and two of my favorite Boston announcers Johnny Most, and Tommy were as much of a homer as you can get, and I liked them both, but for the most part I would rather hear someone tell it like it really is good, or bad, and Mazz, and Shaugnessy do that. I call anyone on TV, or radio a yucker, but not as a negative. I could have just used talker instead of yucker.

Right. So “hometown yuckers” is a compliment, but their absence, to use your words, will be a “refreshing change.” Yeah most of us are sick of all those things we like.

NEVER said it was a compliment, but didn’t say it as a negative either. Look people like different things when listening to announcers doing a game. Some like listening to homers, and some don’t. I think the Red Sox booth had gotten kind of boring since Osillo left. I’m not a big fan of OB, and some are. Some may have liked Ellis Biurks, and Lenny D, but I just tuned them out, so to me I just think Mazz will be a new, and different voice, and to me a breath of fresh air. Some don’t like Mazz, and that’s fine . Nothing wrong with different views, or opinions.

I know the shift has increased radically, so has the use of more and more RP'ers, batters taking a long time to get set and much more.

Not allowing fielders to stand where they think the ball is most likely be hit is too radical for me.

I respect your and others' opinions, but I'm firm on my belief, here.

You don't get it.

I give up. Re-read your post and the point is obvious.

If it is not to you, then you just don't understand how language and logic work.
