Carlos Correa is the closest thing to a young Arod we may ever see without PED

Who said I didn’t respond to posters? I said hours ago we disagreed on Bogey, and yet for some reason you want to keep it going, when no one is going to change their opinions. You watch Bogey how you want to watch Bogey, and Judge Bogey how you want to judge Bogey, and I will do the same.

OMG! It's completely pointless talking to you.

How do you get that out of what I said.

Where did I say you don't respond to posters or that someone said you don't?

Again, you missed my point.

I'm fine with anyone disagree with my point, but dealing with someone who can't understand simple points is too frustrating.

I had to put Swi back on ignore. I think I'll have to do the same with you, again. (I think I did for a while, last year, too.)

Good bye, for now, anyway.

Your words not mine.

I would not blame Cora. I don't always have to put blame on one person or spread it out over others.

I guess, with a gun to my head, I'd place the most "blame" (your word not mine) on Bloom for the bad timing and Bogeyy for not doing what was best for the team, but both of them have good reasons for doing what they did.

It's about big picture and context, but it doesn't mean I can't point out some inconsistencies along the way at one particular part of the grand scheme of things.

Cora is doing what he has to do, and what he and bloom decided to do. He is not perfect, but I don't this as his mistake, like Swihart is screaming about.

You remind me of someone that is afraid to blame Cora for anything. Believe me he would not care what you think, or Bloom either for that matter. I don’t know, but I don’t think Bloom makes out the lineup. Cora does. Going to be a long year for you stewing, or what ever it is what you do about Bogey. Quite hilarious.

OMG! It completely pointless talking to you too. If someone said two hours ago that we disagree why do you keep it going? You always say I missed your point, but do you ever think I just sometime ignore your point, and maybe that’s what frustrates you. Ignore all you want it doesn’t change anything for me one way, or the other.

Moon, does this mean we won’t be going to a SeaDog game together if you come up to Maine this summer? As always. Have a good day.

I’m still wondering why the Sox fans think this is a good thing if they love Bogaerts? This essentially guarantees Bloom won’t be the highest bidder when Xander opts out. Also, it will add to the controversy every time Cora is questioned after Bogey makes an error or doesn’t get a ball that Story would.

This dynamic was discussed here before Story even agreed to join Boston. It could make for some awkward moments, or the three middle infielders -- including Cora -- could all respond as professionals and feed off the challenge. For all we know, Bogaerts could elevate his game, inspired by and competing with a new compeer. An extension before the opt out would also end any of that speculation.

The reason Sox fans think this is a good thing: 1) the club just got better, adding an all-around star who has power, speed and D, a 5.8 WAR per 162, with a better rate of extra-base hits on the road than even X; 2) it shows, finally, that Bloom will offer big money to individuals to improve the Sox... which leads to 3) there is now hope that Bloom will extend Red Sox homegrown stars, instead of dumping them for prospects and alienating the fanbase.

Yes I remember Yankee fans running Jeter out of town for that same reason…

Agree. Bogaerts is an All Star shortstop. I don't know why he gets so many negative comments on here. I think folks study too many metrics. They let that influence their opinions. Whatever.

I actually think that WAR is very beneficial to a player like Bogaerts. Without it some fans might ask whether his supposed defensive mediocrity negates his great bat.

But he had an fWAR of 5.2 last year, which confirms that the answer to that question is a resounding NO.

What about the report that Story’s arm strength has deteriorated the last two years?Isn’t 11 throwing errors last year sound like a problem?

Another report I heard this morning that Story’s elbow is suspect, and needs to be monitored. How come no one else is talking about this?

Ran his ass all the way to South Beach.

According to NJ Advance Media, several scouts around the league believe that Story is better suited to play second base due to his diminished arm strength. Story has dealt with several elbow strains over the last few seasons, which is why a shift to second could help reduce the wear-and-tear on his arm.

If his throwing arm is toast, maybe him getting to a ball Xander wouldn't is irrelevant.

Exactly, which is why I find this amazing that this hasn’t been covered.

Maybe people haven't talked about it on here, but I've seen various reports concerning his health question marks.

I'm more concerned about Story's home/away splits though.

I wouldn't have signed him. It's more than a 50/50 chance that this contract doesn't work in the Sox's favor.

I'm not worried about his offense. Story has more career extra-base hits per game than Bogaerts in away games.

There are plenty of good players who still hit after leaving Colorado: DJ, Arenado, Holliday. Their numbers fluctuated, but DJ won another batting title and his power increased in NY. Holliday was a four-time AS with MVP votes in St. Louis. Arenado hit 34 HRs last year.

I think Coors is slightly overrated for star batters. Where GMs should really focus on is acquiring pitchers who succeed there.

Story will be a righty pull hitter in Fenway who can run. And he won't break his belt buckle bending over for a grounder.

I'm concerned, too, and a .752 away OPS is not usually someone you pay $23M/yr for, but Story is a very good defender and may hit well enough in Fenway to keep his overall OPS high enough to be more than acceptable.

The more I look at his defensive numbers, the more I like him.

I had originally really wanted Baez, but I see Story being about equal to him. Maybe my "makes little sense" statement was a bit premature and or hyperbolic. There are some issues with the signing, but it does make sense.

More XBH per game, but a lower OPS+.

Change of scenery, plus injury concerns, plus home/away splits could turn this signing ugly.

He WAS a good defender. There is concern that his arm is no longer fit for SS. This is not "well Xander has a bad arm too" but rather "if you put Story at SS, he may be much more likely to wind up on the DL/IL."

His defensive numbers look may look good, but what about his elbow? There are all kind of bad reports out there with several elbow strains the last few years. Those reports are more important than metrics.

Just remember, for everytime a ball is hit up the middle that Xander misses, Story was worse at lateral movement towards 1b than Bogey in 2022 (per OAA).

Also, Story may be "faster" but Xander is quicker running from home to 1b.

Seems like Story may be losing some athleticism?

I hope not. Maybe it was some unknown injury that slowed him down, and he's over it now.

Very concerning info.

The elbow problem is not some unknown injury, and has been there for a few years now, and that is the BIGGEST concern.

I think this makes it easier for Story to accept his new contract, his transition to second, to keep Bogie at short, and to stop all of our big mouths and typing fingers from debating his position for at least this entire year. Now let's get some damn pitching.

Storys career away OPS: .752

Bogaerts career away OPS: .755

I'm not concerned. Most players hit worse away from home.

It’s amazing that Moon has changed his stance from makes little sense to now it makes sense with all the elbow problem reports out there. I guess those reports aren’t part of the metrics.

Why do you keep missing the most IMPORTANT part of the picture, which is a bad elbow? That should be a big concern for everyone.
