Yes, look at them all sign with other teams.

It depends on the length of the Rodon deal. I'm a no on the others.

3 play the wrong positions.

Rodon is the closest, but I'm thinking his price tag and years will be too much.

Either it's a high cost short term or it's a length that will be unpalatable. It's not likely, but more likely than the others.

Seager: injury risk

Kershaw: not leaving Dodgers

Bryant: does not fit a need

Freeman: same position as Sox #1 prospect who should premier this season

Ray: inconsistent career coming off career year

The only pitchers on here inlcude one guy with a ton of mileage who simply isn't the pitcher he was 5 years ago, one guy coming off a very unrepresentative career year and one guy who hasn't thrown as many as 133 IP in a season since 2016...

Here are the 6 I think the Sox will be looking at:

Matz

Taylor (Villar/ C Hernandez)

Jon Gray

DeSclafani

A Cobb

H Neris

Here are the 6 I hope they look more closely at:

Baez

Scherzer

J Gray

Graveman

Iggy

Y Giomes (trade Vaz)

I think Kershaw will not sign with the Dodgers.

I agree on the rest.

So you think they are looking at Jon Gray, but you want them to look at him even more closely?

All aboard the Jon Gray train.

Dodgers are keeping him around due to the Bauer situation.

No.

He thinks they are looking at Jon Gray, but they need to look more closely at J Gray. Maybe he meant Josiah Gray. Maybe you assumed too much.

A list of suspects:

Jeff Gray (1988-1991)

Jeff Gray (2008-2012)

Jim Gray (1884-1893)

Johnny Gray (1954-1958)

Jon Gray (2015-2021)

Josiah Gray (2021-2021)

The bottom line is, Bloom is probably not going to do anything that the fans want, including moon's persistent requests to trade Vaz.

And we probably won't know if we like what he's done until sometime in April, 2022.

As far as Freeman is concerned, I hope the Braves get that deal done so the Yanks can't swoop, because I think Hal might give that one the financial thumbs-up.

Seems like most of the smoke is foretelling a trade for Matt Olson.

Yes, get it done on Jon Gray.

(I wanted us to trade for him at the deadline, too.)

I love seeing the Yanks overpay on aging free agents.

Most backfire!

Except Jay Buhner for Ken Phelps -- wasn't that one celebrated on Seinfeld? And Mr. Phelps went to become a famous pilot on Airplane! (Shirley, you remember that...)

Remember Moon. Bloom wants no names to replace E Rod.

Deal for Sean Nolin incoming.

Ricky Nolasco making a comeback?

Daniel Norris isn't really a starter anymore.

Aaron Northcraft and James Norwood don't seem likely.

The key Bloom quote for potential pitching acquisitions is when he said this week, “We’re not too focused on how famous they are..."

That's not the same as saying "we want no names". It just means that star power and Q factor won't be the driving forces...

I trust Bloom to know who is good, despite his whiffs on Richards and Perez (and Andriese.)

Maybe it's a simple as taking Jon Gray (5.8 fWAR over the past 3 years) over reigning Cy Young winner Robbie Ray (5.9 fWAR over the past 3 years)...

Andriese was well worth the money since he taught Whitlock a changeup.

I’ll take a wait, and see position to see how this all shakes out.
