Hunter Renfro, thank you. Two assists, 2 run HR, saved the remnant of this season. Finally some great plays, and great pitching by Nate, and Robles

My first thread start but , of course , I knew they would win after the prior losing streak. So now I assume you all want another.

One of the best throw outs I've ever seen. The nerds can shove their d-WAR where the sun don't shine.

Equal of any I have seen from Fenway. Notice how he had to cover and chase Santana's regrettable missed dive , turn and throw. Loving it

You'll have tomorrow off, so you'll be well rested by Friday night.

Cover me , SS, like Renfroe did for Santana in case I forget the Sox are playing, LOL

Whata game and whata crazy series.

We fairly could have won 2 out of 3 but we s*** the bed yesterday. Won’t talk about that brutal game anymore.

The positive thing of this series, is that we demonstrated that we can compete against any team, and that’s all I ask to this underdog team.

Help is on its way and I expect this team closes strong moving forward.

Fasten your seatbelts gentlemen. Best of the season is about to come.

One thing I should caution myself about with regard to Bloom's Renfroe deal to bring him to Boston being his best deal to date.....How often can a guy who has inside knowledge of a particular player's true potential from seeing him every day make such a deal? Not often would be my guess. Not often particularly within the devision.

It was a fantastic find, and so was Whitlock.

I think the Arroyo deal was nice, too.

He’s had a rough time, but I think it’s too early to call him fragile.

Not that you did.

Looks at a guy with a lengthy injury history... Yeah, too soon to tell if he can stay on the field.

Ugh living in Canada when the Jays are doing well (which isn't often) is annoying.... it's all people are talking about lol and the news and the radio, bla bla bla......

The team is red hot though, I hope they enjoy it.... Until the Sox smash their little dreams in the wild card round muahahahaha

A modern day Lou Gehrig.

Now to be fair, his injury issues seem to have started once he got to AAA.

Context:

2013 was Rookie ball in the Arizona League (56 game season).

2014 was 59 out of a 77 game schedule in the Northwest League (Short Season A) plus 30 more in the South Atlantic League after that. NWL started later than other minor leagues so that probably was a full season as much as it could be.

2015 was 90 out of 140 in the California League. One guy on that team played 110 games and a couple others were around 105. Everyone else was 90 or less. That easily could have been organization directed by the Giants.

2016 was 119 out of 144 in the Eastern League. Two guys played in 125 or so games, Arroyo was 3rd overall on the team by a wide margin.

Once he got to AAA, the injuries started.

How much of this was injury-related?

Minor League seasons are much shorter.

Nobody is saying he's Lou.

He's 26 and rode the bench for some of his career.

How much shorter do you really think MiLB seasons are? C'mon man... The difference between a 162 game season and a 140ish game season, wouldn't be THAT much of a factor in games started.

You really think the Rays/Giants were sitting a 1st round pick on the bench?

2018 - 3 separate trips to the IL

2019 - forearm injury ends his season

2020 - rehab slowed start to the year, was DFA'd and put at alternate training site, ended 2020 with ongoing back spasms that flared up on 9/19

2021 - 4 trips to IL (left hand, knee, hamstring, COVID-19)

The last 2 trips in 2021 could be chalked up to bad luck, but still...

Arroyo has been plagued by injuries during his career. There is no question about that. Is he fragile? Does it matter? A pattern of missing big chunks of time is being established.

No, I'd say the hand getting hit in the hand by a pitch is bad luck. With COVID, these guys are making their own luck. He apparently had really rough go of it, but we were also told that the vaccinated players that caught COVID only had mild cases. Clearly, dum dum should have gotten the jab jab.
