Brad F'N Peacock vs Yarbrough

Sox have 5 guys out with COVID (Kiké, Arroyo, Sawamura, Barnes, Perez) and a 6th out for close contact (Taylor).

Quite the auspicious way to begin their run to the Wild Card Game. I read the tea leaves today and good signs all around!

Geez wonder whether they were vaccinated at some point before.

Is Sale on 6 days rest all year?

Not starting him also pushes back Erod and pushed Eovaldi right out of this TBR series.

Looks like they have him on a protection plan for sure. Can't say I disagree with it. It does suggest the team is in semi-punt mode now though.

Setting the rotation up for the WC game, I'm sure.

I saw somewhere that by pushing Sale a day, it allows him to face Tampa Bay twice (Wednesday and then next Monday).

Not sure I buy the spin, but its at least a plausible explanation. OTOH, you could have had him pitch tonight, pushed his next start a day and still had the same result.

Just saw the Delino Deshields era has ended; sent to the Reds for Cash Considerations. Wonder if Cash can give us an inning or 2 out of the pen. Edited by illinoisredsox

Does that outweigh a pen game vs Eovaldi?

No, like I said, they could have pitched Sale tonight, done a pen game over weekend the Guardians, pushed Sale to Monday and had Eovaldi pitch twice against the Rays as well.

Been wondering how they are replacing these guys without affecting the 40 man roster; apparently, replacements for Covid list players do not have to be on the 40 man nor do they have to be removed once the Covid players come back:

"Any clubs that experience a COVID-19 outbreak among their players may add to their Major League Active List temporarily, without the need for those players to be placed on waivers, outrighted, or optioned in order to be removed from the 40-man roster when players return from the COVID-19 Related Injured List."

If you don't looks at the pitching...

If you don't look at the defense...

If you don't look at the base running...

We have a good shot, tonight!

Major League Baseball should move the Rays to a big city that does not have a major league team.......like Baltimore.

LOL

I think NC has supported minor league ball so well, they deserve a team, but without a big city and trying to centrally place the team between mid-sized cities seems very problematic.

How about?

San Antonio?

Indy?

Buffalo?

Sacramento?
