There was talk about the Red Sox coming back to the team of the first half following the sweep in Baltimore. Wiser heads said wait until the Yankee series is over before congratulating ourselves. All the warts showed up and we lost our once big lead. The Sox relief pitching on day one along with very poor base running and inability to get hits with runners in scoring position.. No hitting in the second game and almost none in the third with poor defense. Throughout, the Sox chase balls out of the zone. Cora has talked about it but it doesn't change. We got 5 runs total in 3 games and it is difficult to win that way.

I don't think the move to pickup Shaw solves anything. Another Cordero with a little better defensive capabilities.

The only thing Shaw provides is defense at 1st base, but I seriously doubt that Cora knows what defensive replacement means.

Have to have a lead to use a defensive replacement.

Don't know what to say anymore. The only silver lining is that we have a number of s*** teams on the schedule for the remainder of the year. But if you can't beat good teams who are you kidding anyway.

The cream rises to the surface in the second half of the season and so far, our second half is an utter disaster. When we face good teams, we fold like a cheap suit.

Still and all, my expectation before the first "play ball" was that they would go nowhere this year. So if the happens it will have been more fun watching them go nowhere than I thought it would be.

If the whole point of a baseball season is to win a WS, and if the team one roots for has no chance of winning a WS, even if they do make the PO's, does it really matter if they get to the PO's. The SOX have won 4 WS since 2004, but with much better teams than the current one.

? If the 'whole point of a baseball season is to win a WS,' it's hard to imagine how anyone could have been a RS fan in the 20th century. Winning a WS is NOT the 'whole point' of any baseball season as far as fans are concerned, or they would have been stupidly wasting the thousands and thousands of hours they have been listening to the radio, watching a screen, or even sitting at a game.

Is this another Van Damme?

Sort of but with more drama

It’s a train wreck show. Kind of like the Red Sox second half of the season but more entertaining to watch.

The Other Way is so good. I can't stand Happily Ever After though.

Ya we really liked the other way.

That Brittney girl posing nearly nude and nearly having that poor guy killed in his home country was ridiculous lol.

@ChrisCotillo

Nick Pivetta still believes the Red Sox are better than the Yankees, who swept them and passed them in the standings this week.

"Yes, they’re a good team. But we’re better and we’re going to move forward from this.”

Good point. I was just attempting to reduce the pain of the SOX not reaching the PO's this year.

The movie THE FUGITIVE included a helluva train wreck.

This is true, but I was referring to the rest of the season.

He's used them a few times. I know Verdugo has gone in for JD a couple times when Martinez has been in the outfield. Marwin was used that way some as well, especially when Chavis was playing 2B.

With a four man bench, one of whom is the back-up catcher, it's not like there are a lot of options. They are just a bad defensive club overall.

We need to go back to that mindset of the late 50s and 60s, even the 70s, when our goal was a .500 season! (Or perhaps that's just what I remember. It never occurred to me that the RS would ever be in the Post season until 1967, and from that point on, ok, once every ten years losing a critical game 7? That's life!)

Maybe he has some inside information that Bloom has found a replacement for Pivetta.

To make it seem like this season is not a debacle is ridiculous! They have completely faltered. It’s a waste of a season and idk what 2022 will bring.

From 75-59, they won 90+ games 4 times. Hard to believe the goal was only 81 wins.

IMO, .500 was more indicative of the early to mid 90's teams.

Hahaha, that is a good one!! The sequel US Martials was also good.

Lmao, what a complete moron. We have a losing record since the all star break and are

1-5 against Tampa

0-3 against the Yankees.

What makes him think we are better than the Yankees??? Hell what makes him think we are better than anyone other than Baltimore.

He's the moron?

So you would rather he say "Yeah, we're terrible. We're just going to tank the rest of the season"?

Even if the team members are thinking that, they aren't going to say it for public consumption. They're trained to try and put a positive spin on things no matter what.

Clearly Schwarber was not the answer to any question. He is not a 1st baseman. He spent his first two weeks here up on the shelf which partially hid the fact that there is nowhere for him to play where the Sox have a need unless its keep butcher JD out of the OF.

Then they bring in Shaw. What was that...some effort to cover over the Schwarber blunder.

Rizzo sure would have looked good in a Red Sox uni.

Some common sense right 'ere mates.
