Sox are painful to watch.

I've made it even more painful by having the game on the YES feed with the mute off. Nothing more painful than listening to a happy Kay, Conehead, and O'neill. But, then, because the SOX fooled me for so long this season, I deserve to suffer.

Looking at the remaining games for us, Yankees and Rays, we have the easier schedule I think. Its a good think because we show no ability to beat good teams lately.

I thought Eck was funny on the X HR call. "Second tank". Yea OK Eck...its debatable whether second tank in that spot in Yankmee stadium should even count as a HR.

@IanMBrowne

Scheduling nugget that might make you feel better about Red Sox playoff chances. Of their last 39 games starting Friday, 23 are against sub .500 teams. In their most recent 39-game stretch which ends tonight, 30 were against teams over .500. 9 were against sub. 500 teams.

Who wants to end the season losing a WC game though?

It seems to me that the undeniable fact about bad teams this year is that they can't pitch.....like can't pitch AT ALL. Our greatest asset is still the middle of our batting order.

If the whole point of a baseball season is to win a WS, and if the team one roots for has no chance of winning a WS, even if they do make the PO's, does it really matter if they get to the PO's. The SOX have won 4 WS since 2004, but with much better teams than the current one.

Depends on the team. A very young team learning to win is decently served by making the postseason, even if they don’t advance.

A veteran team (and this years Sox are very much a veteran team) is not. What the Sox are is not extremely talented. They overachieved early but there’s a reason 162 games separates the contenders from the pretenders, and August is usually when that separation starts to occur.

That makes sense, Thanks.

Speed or rather lack of is another weakness on this team.

Anyone else on the team running there beats that out; when a team is going bad, it’s your back up catcher who hits that.

I was a little surprised that Schwarber wasn’t used there, even if it would have been lefty on lefty. He’s at least a threat to hit one out.

Like someone posted recently; this team has a bunch of piano haulers.
