It's evidence that this poster provides relevant information but is rarely here to make a point.:)

You might think you're not making a point, but the assumption was obvious.

I heard about a shrewd trader who got six shiny new quarters for just one wrinkled old five dollar bill.

Renfroe was a least a shiny 50 cent piece.

Some might argue he was a five dollar bill like beni.

If the goal was to make a point the undermining informaton would have been withheld.

Objectivity is a heavy cross to bear.:)

Is than an opinion?

Renfroe's play right up there with Manny's catch, high-fiving the fan, and doubling up the runner at first.

(And who was the guy--good hitter, horrible glove--who over-ran the ball in left, reached back, and caught it bare-handed with his throwing hand?)

I never said anything about whether or not the evaluators were including Whitlock. I just said he was never part of the Red Sox farm. And to date, he hasn’t been…

These rankings include all players who haven't "graduated" yet, even if they are on the MLB team. You're wrong.

Beni is not a five dollar bill. If you ignore 2018, he's an average player at best.

I was not the one who called him a 5 dollar bill, initially. I was just responding with the same terminology used by a previous poster.

Also, I was not aware a 5 dollar player was worth anything more than an average player.

Again, you twist and twirl and assume wrongly.

(I did not ignore anything. I was never high on Beni. I liked the trade and still do.)

I was contributing to the discussion, not trying to say you were the one who stated he was a five dollar bill.

Again, you continue to get upset about every goddamn thing on here.

I'm not upset. Again, you assume wrongly.

And you said "If you ignore..." in a response to my post. That seems directed at me.

Maybe, if you think before you go off on another hyper critical post, this would not happen, and again, I am not upset or angry. In fact, I am highly content and relaxed.

No one here said Benintendi is a superstar, though some may dislike him because he was once projected to be one. The comparison is that his WAR shows he's at least as good as Renfroe. One has more power but whiffs more, the other has more speed and is a better outfielder. The big difference fueling conjecture about their changing teams is that one makes twice as much money as the other... which may also be a reason why Hunter is on the move again, as he's due for a raise (but at three years older, maybe not equal to Andrew's salary).

Yeah, I don't think Hunter is a five dollar bill either. They probably have the same amount of value. Per Baseball Trade Values, a trade of Renfroe for Beni would be accepted (though Beni has slightly higher value).

It's hard to compare their defense. I shutter to think of Beni in RF.

Renfroe in Fenway's LF would not be all that bad.

I'd call Renfroe & Beni close to even. The 5 players/prospects obtained makes the deal more promising.

Interesting that the Royals think so little of Beni's defense that they kept him in LF and were forced to put Jorge Soler and Hunter Dozier in RF.

Beni was just a poor man's replacement for Alex Gordon and that's depressing AF.

A Destitute Man’s replacement. Gordon had a 4 year stretch where he was worth 21.6 fWAR. In 5 full seasons, Benintendi has been worth less than half of that…

Man, the Beni haters on here... Benintendi won the Gold Glove his first year, continuing a five-year string of fielding awards for KC leftfielders (though Beni had a positive dWAR, unlike Gordon in his last two seasons).

His UZR/150 was worse than 9 out of 11 Alex Gordon seasons.

Negative Total Zone Arm Outs Above Average. 20th in Plus/Minus Fielding Runs Above Average. 120th in Range Factor per 9.

Beni catches everything that is hit to him, but he has a terrible arm and poor range.

A five dollar bill doesn't mean you are rich. Just that it's better than six quarters.

What about 10 dollar bills, 20 dollar bills, 50 dollar bills and 100's?

I never equated a $5 bill as being anything special. (Ok, maybe when I was like 10.)

Klaw, great stuff as always. Is there a system you see as particularly high ceiling/high variance? Someone you wouldn't be surprised to see jumping either up or down a large distance in the midseason rankings?

@Andy R. Red Sox, Yankees, Guardians all come to mind.
