That may be exactly what Bloom expects.

I'm sure he expected the lower end additions to miss more than hit, but his 3 most expensive additions did not reach their contractual value. (4, if you count Sawamura as a negative like fWAR.)

I don't think he expected that.

Most GMs have more misses than hits...

If you just count winter and in-season additions via trades or signings, the record is not good. (No Pivetta or Whitlock)

Fangraphs Value

7.7 Richards

4.5 Perez

4.1 Ottavino

3.3 Robles

900K Davis

000 Brennan

-100K Rios

-200K Ort

-800K Feliz

Most pitchers have more misses than hits, too... which is why the new CBA will include universal DHs.

Most players have more mistresses than missus... but no contract, license or certificate will ever change that.

Sol the net negative is what, about $5 million? Considering the variability of the measurements used, you might as well call it a wash.

Lots of rumor about Story to the Sox. This makes me think the sox are gonna shop Bogaerts if they got him. Story should cost significantly less than the SS's that signed already. Correa will fill a hole as well. If the sox got him on a cheaper deal and then dealt off a year of Bogey, they could get quite the prospect haul for a team looking for a more short term commitment.

Sounds about right.

My point was more about Bloom needing to hit on his bigger additions, pretty soon.

Just say no to this Story.

So far his bigger additions have been relatively small.

Yes, in this case, bigger is Richards (10), Ottavino (8). Perez (5). Andriese (1.9) & Sawamura (1.2).

Kike $7M x 2 was the biggest non-pitching addition. (Marwin $3M)

Missed you man .Nice try lol Bogey has been out infront on a position change .I would actually extend him at 6 years 180 with incentives well into 210 range .I hope your wrong on Story but there is smoke on this but also Correa .But I’m the guy who would trade Jalen Brown strait up for Ben Simmons .Grain meet salt .

Sox victimize the tYankees again, selecting RHP Brian Keller in the second round of the minor league phase of the Rule 5 draft.

Keller, 27, and his 7.5 BB/9 across 55 AAA innings doesn’t figure to get many more mentions on this forum…

The Yankees probably fixed it so there would be no major league Rule 5 draft this year.

Red Sox had zero players taken from the org.

Sox gained Keller (above) and Austin Lambright (https://www.milb.com/player/austin-lambright-681022)

The Rule 5 was delayed not cancelled.

This was the minor league portion of rule 5.

Oh. To quote a very old SNL sketch, "Never mind."

Maybe Bloom should consider signing Clay Buchholz to pitch the first half of the season and Paxton could take over after the ASB when Buccholz always breaks down. It’s a no-brainer.

So I got to thinking.

Bloom says he wants to add a right-handed bat to the lineup as the team is getting “too left-handed.” But how left-handed are they really?

From what I can tell, the only left-handed hitters currently in the lineup full time are Devers and Verdugo. Certainly we can expect one of Bradley or Duran. But is that really too left-handed? From the right side, the Sox have Hernandez, Bogaerts, JD, and Vazquez. And Dalbec should be a full time player, too. That’s fine right handed bats!! Why would he want to make sure the final player in the lineup is also a righty?

I think he meant the OF.

Orlando on a roll?

Traded Renfro but I ask Whose going pitch?

Once again a return on a legitimate player that yields zero Pitching and zero pitching prospects, priceless

Right. He probably turned down the Brewers offer of Corban Burnes for Renfroe…

Why would that matter?

I think it is obvious.

Having JBJ or Duran hit vs LHPs might be worse than letting a pitcher bat.

(Sarcasm alert)

Verdugo has bad splits, too.

But their positions don’t matter in that case…
