Trade rejected by JH, and Bogey. Bogey is not going anywhere.

Honestly, I think the lockout hurts a team like Boston more. Boston isn't a buy and hold franchise anymore. They are a value based organization, which means a lot of wheeling and dealing. I think the lockout will hurt them just as much as the surprise playoff run. Bloom also leaked that the Sox tried to extend Devers. Note how nobody threw out a monetary figure. Unless JH gets involved, I expected Bogey to be dealt this year and Devers next. The returns would be fantastic, but you'd have to watch a developed fan favorite walk

Owners are still talking to other owners and agents. When the lock out is over the moves will be announced. I doubt we suffer more than anyone else.

Are owners allowed to talk to agents? (Isn't that the same as talking to the players themselves?)

As far as I know, it's just a transaction freeze.

Yeah no thanks. Not that it’s not a good trade but I’d really like X moved to another position and extended

Jackson ? Lol you just can’t help yourself .

One could argue that none of the Red Sox transactions thus far this season would have seemed realistic (or at least likely) in October.

Harmony I can’t stand Bloom but what he’s done makes perfect sense at this point .He hasn’t added to payroll really A lot after this season and he’s basically picked up two pretty decent prospects for a trade maybe this winter .I like the thought of keeping most our blue chips and supplementing these two in a trade with a team like Oakland .Suzuki also seems like a guy Bloom is targeting and rightfully so .

So, the lockout kills the hot stove season. There wouldn’t seem to be any compelling financial reason for this to end anytime soon.

True but I’m hopeful this gets done sooner than you think .No one wants a late season Strike by the players again .

What about this….

Bogaerts and Pivetta for Lux and Gonsolin

Why is everyone looking to cut bait on X ? Wouldn’t a 6 year 180 deal with huge signing bonus say 75 be tempting for him ? Play Xander at third and move Devers over to first Now .Trade Bobby the two kids we picked up to Oakland for Pitching .

From what I can find, owners (and GMs) are NOT allowed to negotiate with either players or their agents. But I can't find a definitive statement on this.

Well, they can work on setting up trades, for sure.

Verdugo JBJ Suzuki .Xander Correa Kike Devers .Trade Bobby and new prospects to Oakland .

I can't see skimping on the rotation then splurging on Correa & Susuki. I'm thing the odds are against us even getting one of those two.

I do believe Bloom when he said we need to upgrade the outfield and trading Renfroe coming off his top performance made sense, although the return was certainly questionable. I look to Bloom to try to find a longer term solution in the form of a near prime right handed hitter with good defensive qualities, and that makes Suzuki plausible if somewhat risky. There will be a lot of competition for him though.

I can't find a lot good to say about Bloom's pitching moves so far. We may have gotten an over the Hill, a Wacha capable of and a Paxton on the IL. More is needed.

The names aren't exciting, but Bloom's strategy of acquiring cheap starters on short contracts seems like a sound one. They don't create payroll problems or cost prospects, so they leave the future intact.

They haven't done very well, either, but the sample is rather small.

If we count all the starters acquired for minimal cost, it would include Pivetta as well.

Would need to count Whitlock and Seabold too.

I agree, but I left them out because I thought we were only talking about 2021 starting pitchers. Whitlock and Seabold are potential 2022 starters.

I meant all pitchers, and my "not done very well" comment was about the overall grade.

Yes, Pivetta & Whitlock were good.

Seabold might be good.

Robles and Davis did okay.

Richards, Perez, Andriese, Workman, Brice and several others not so good to pretty bad.

The overall score on WAR yielded per dollar cost on those names would be very good, I think.
