I don’t understand why the jays are buyers. Frankly I feel they’re done. They’re not better than the As or Yankees or rays.

Jays aren't winning with Bichette at short, just like the Yankees aren't with Torres.

The Rays are good defensively (even after dealing their top shortstop earlier this season). And this week they traded both a member of their starting rotation and their closer (they love recycling bullpen arms).

Sox now have to either part with a top three prospect for a starting pitcher like Hendricks, or just focus on one of the last good relievers remaining. Rodriguez from Pittsburgh has to be a top target.

Jays and the Yankees.....one, possibly both will be disappointed. They are not both getting into the playoffs.

If we're willing to part with Casas, I'm sure we've gotten a bite...

I wouldn’t part with casas unless we traded for a guy like Zach Wheeler.

He’ll topple the bridge.

(Do Fat Pablo jokes ever get old?)

Should have gone with: Pablo will make the bridge buckle.

I don’t think nobody is running away with this division. Sox need to beat the rays in those 13 meetings coming up. They control their own destiny.

He's my one untouchable prospect, other than Mayer. To win the pennant, I'd part with Downs and even Duran (if the brass projects Jimenez with a comparable future).

Guardians are sellers. Bloom and Co. have to be calling about a Cleveland starting pitcher...

Edit: didn't realize Civale and Bieber both on 60-day IL

It sounds like the White Sox are trying to get Kimbrel. According to reports, the price for Kimbrel is pretty outrageous. Thus, I guess we can cross him off the list for the Red Sox.

Moon has opined that we won't do a lot in the trade market for 2021 other than a possible first base move and a starter/reliever. If Bloom is trying to stay below the CBT and doesn't want to go big until 2022, Other than the Schwaber trade and perhaps a couple of less capable additions, we may stand pat. We will have to jettison quite a number of players this year so it is sad that we can't get something in return.

Carlos Santana (if the plan is to play Schwarber in LF)

According to reports from yesterday, the Royals don't want to trade Santana, they see him as part of the team next year. The Red Sox supposedly contacted the Royals about Santana.

Can he pitch?

The problem is, many teams will have roster issues, this winter, too, so guys like Wilson, Potts and Rosario might not e all that appealing. Not every team could fit Cordero on their roster either. I think most could fit Dalbec, but that is debatable.

I really hope we make a 3 for 1 deal, with all three players leaving being 40 man roster players in 2022. I'm not sure how practical that is.

I'm also done with Richards. We can pay all but a little more than min wage off his contract and give him away. Maybe throw in Potts and save more money, so we can afford Jon Gray or Kyle Hendricks.

Time is running out.

I won't be upset if Schwarber is all we do, but I have to think something else is in the works.

If they stay put we better pray that the starting pitching gets better. ERod, Richards, and even pivetta recently have been straight awful.

An Eric Van post -- good stuff:

BA this morning ranked all the prospects traded.

Rays traded the #3 and #7 traded prospects to get Cruz and the #25 prospect.

Yankees traded the #4, #5, #14, and #17 prospects to get Gallo and Joely Rodriguez.

Yankees traded the #12 and #13 prospects to get Rizzo.

Red Sox traded the #20 prospect to get Schwarber.

One of these things is not like the others.

I hope so as the Sox are somewhat vulnerable going into August. We saw an example of that vulnerability last night. Down to less than 2 hours to go and Bloom doesn't have a lot of trade chips that are both attractive and that he is likely to part with.
