With Rizzo , we are talking about adding a guy who can help down the stretch run. Maybe help to win it all. He has those credentials. As stated before, I don't know what it would take to get him. If the price is too high , it's too high. We will still have a good chance at the gold.

With a guy like that, you could see him put on the afterburners and mash down the stretch. With Dalbec, that's a big question mark.

@Ken_Rosenthal

Source confirms: Mets in process of acquiring Rich Hill from Rays. Deal not yet finalized.

I broke that story a full hour before your post.

You're Ken Rosenthal?

Did you also report on Nelson Cruz being traded?

No. Some dork scooped me.

It can’t be EST. If everything was on Eastern Time, Saturday Night Live would be called Really Early Sunday Morning Live…

And?

We've been through this. Do you really want me to say it again.

I'm fine with you disagreeing, but why act like you don't know my reasons for saying that.

Not going over, now, pushes all the tax years back one more year- step 1, step 2, step 3.

Welook to be really good in 2-3 years. Let's keep the step taxes one rung down the ladder.

No because it's called "midnight" and there's still another half of night to go.

It 's important that the owners avoid the self imposed " Luxury Tax." They need to save money in case they want to build a rocket and join the billionaire boy's club in space. And that's okay. But how about some lower prices for tickets, concessions and merchandise? Is that asking for too much?

Let's be reasonable. C'mon...

And players don't really need to make $20 million a year or more either. Good luck with changing any of it.

What's an allowable figure to you?

Not going down that rabbit hole. Just saying the fans have to pay high prices not just because of the owners.

No, I get it. Beers should be $15.

The main problem is that there is no way to know and no reason to believe the 2023 Red Sox or the 2024 Red Sox will be better than the 2021 Red Sox. In fact, chances are extremely good that they will be worse than the current .608 winning percentage team we currently have, and even if everything goes right, still might not be a first place team. That MLB legacy squad in Toronto might not be peaking yet…

This reminds me of opposite locks in baseball -- like those sports talkshowoffs all "taking the over" on 103 wins for the Yankees before Opening Day. Greenberg, Kay, etc were laughing about it -- it was such a sure thing.

Now there's only one reason New York can't play .800 ball the rest of the way and make it so: they're not good enough.
