And we've been without Sale all year. Tanner Houck has been in and out. Brasier has been out all year. What is your point?

And first base has been a black hole all year!

So… are you saying that adding Jimenez and Robert will not make the White Sox one of the best teams in the AL?

They already are.

When are those two expected back? (or are they, this year)

Jimenez came back 2 days ago and hit a 3 run home run yesterday. Robert is expected back in early August, so maybe next week…

Yet they are only 21-28 vs .500+ teams?

Are you saying that they are the best team on paper?

What is your criteria?

I'm confused.

No.I never said they were. I said HOU was.

I said the CWS are tough.

Why is record vs .500 suddenly the be-all-end-all stat?

If they are below 500 against good teams, they'll probably have a below 500 record in the playoffs.

I'm not sure that's a stat that projects future performance, and it's a small sample size.

I'm not saying it's not a useful stat, but their team looks good, on paper.

Most teams that get into the playoffs go below .500 in them

But will the ChiSox be more likely to be below .500 since they don't play well against good teams during the regular season?

Postseason is a crapshoot. I read it on here.

And honestly, pitcher fatigue is a far bigger factor n the postseason than record against .500 or better teams. (Personal theory with anecdotal evidence and no statistical support.)

I’m not going to say it’s a useless stat, but I’m not sure it’s a simple as “they’ll lose.”

For example, White Sox vs

Teams .500 or better - 21-27

Teams better than .500 - 20-24

Teams better than .575 - 7-10

All losing records, but they also win a greater percentage of the time vs better teams…

21-28 is now a small sample size? I though 2-4 would be small sample size. No matter not relevant.

We need an infielder to add to our current roster as Marwin, Arroyo and Santana are all out for extended period.

Chavis just sucks.

Our only other alternative is Kike at 2B. We can go JD, Verdugo and Renfroe in outfield but then who DH's against left handed pitching?

Moon, you're good at this sort of thing.

What do we do?

I think there's an old adage that goes something like: play .500 vs the good teams and beat up on the bad teams.

We trade for a higher quality first baseman and get Arroyo back off the IL.

Hey he may not be back for another 3 weeks....I'm not kidding. We have a serious situation here.

Arauz or trade for Schoop, who can play 1B and 2B (until Arroyo returns).

July 28: Sale, Scherzer in the same rotation?

Despite Scherzer's reported preference for West Coast teams, Red Sox ownership is encouraging a final push for the 37-year-old, according to The Athletic's Jim Bowden (subscription required). The club is reported to be particularly motivated by the prospect of Scherzer backing up Chris Sale, who is nearing his return from Tommy John surgery, down the stretch.

Thank God John Henry smells another championship.

Max in Red Sox uniform would make us front runners to win it all this year.

Yankees up 3-1 bottom of 10th.

Wander Franco .643 OPS. #1 prospect in majors. Bobby Dalbec, .647. Yeah, I know. One is shortstop and other is first baseman.

You better check with Moon first on that....

Our BP is elite. Our offense is elite. Our Rotation with Scherzer, Sale (80% Sale), EO, Houck (now) and Rodriguez is an elite one.

What did I miss?

I'd want to protect following prospects. Groome and Chavis enough?

Houck 25 P

He doesn't think that's enough to beat NL West teams. He is also high on Houston and White Sox.

Well, they have good teams too but I like ours more.

I don't know, but I'm guessing the Nats will get better offers than that.
