They have had a lot of players out, but that seems to be their MO over the past few years.

What did Cashman do about that?

He signs and acquires guys like Paxton, Kluber, Taillon and big beefy guys, so muscle bound, they slip in a the shower and pull something.

The thing we heard all winter, though was how deep and powerful their bench and farm are. It's early yet, and I wish the Sox had some of the Yankee young players, but they better start doing something, of this could get real ugly in the big apple.

The Yankees will be fine as far as making the playoffs and probably winning the division. That said, we've all pointed out the question marks surrounding the Yankees rotation. They have almost as much uncertainty in their rotation as the Sox have.

Not only does Cashman stink at building a starting staff, a problem he has had for a really long time--it defines him as a GM--but he didn't do enough to fix the offense. The Yankees offense is too right-handed heavy, with big strikeout guys, making for a streaky lineup. Sure, at times the Yankees will bludgeon teams to death, they have a big payroll after all, but the lineup will continue to disappoint overall. With the dummy Steinbrenner kids running the organization, Boone will probably take the fall and blame for Cashman's mess.

Moreover, how long do you want a GM to run an organization? Cashman has been with the Yankees forever and the organization is stagnant and stale. They need a fresh perspective. It is hard to overlook the fact that Cashman has spent more money than any other organization over the last 10 years and doesn't have a single World Series appearance to show for it. What kind of dipshit do you have to be to have the Yankees resources at your disposal and go 10 years without a World Series appearance? Baseball isn't that complicated.

I have always thought and still think that Cashman is a good GM. However, as you pointed out, he's been with the Yankees for a long time. It probably is time for the Yankees to bring in a fresh face and fresh perspective.

We were 6-9 in 2019 before winning over 100 games. Not worried. I’ll be sure to remind you of this when the Yanks are 10 games up on the Sox, but you won’t be here. Let’s be honest. You’re a pink hat

Cole, Taillon, Sevy and Montgomery will be the 4 for playoffs. Kluber might change that if he can regain his form. The rotation will be good ultimately, but might have some rocky spots figuring out who is a contender and who’s a pretender prior to Sevy’s return

Funny how the starting pitching was supposed to be questionable but deep, at least until and if Sevy came back and regained form.

It's the bats that have been the weakness, thus far.

(I don't expect that to continue.)

Offense has done dick through 3 and we have a deficit early? In other news, water is wet.

I will say, this home plate ump is having a bad night. He’s calling 6 inches off the outside for Ryu and missing a lot of in the zone pitches from Taillon.

And what exactly are you doing? Playing jacko on Yankee forums?

The first three runs were off of a bunch of ground balls that found holes. He still has to build himself up but he has shown promise before seeming to tire out around 70ish pitches.

I'll tell you the truth.

I read their game threads and general threads on the team, mostly when they're losing. It's great entertainment. Some of the posters are quite funny and sardonic, just like people here.

Not once have I ever trash talked them though.

As an added bonus, they have political threads there that manage to stay semi-civilized.

Here's another one from last night's game thread:

"I would like to congratulate Cashman on acquiring a second baseman who hits into the teeth of the shift 100% of the time."

Taillon’s issue last night was his breaking ball. He’s got a slider and a curve, but he was hanging them with regularity. He did give up some hits off the FB, but the breaking ball wasn’t fooling anyone. Those days happen. My bigger concern continues to be the offense. They just seem dead. No rallies, no fight

Looking to Odor to provide a spark is not a good sign.

On a positive note, Bruce went 1 for 3 last night to raise his average to .133.

I'm starting to wonder if Cash has lost his marbles.

I think he just spent his allowance and needed players willing to settle for his budgetary limitations...

He's made some very dubious moves IMO.

Agreed.

When one of your team's biggest issues in recent years has been injuries, Taillon and Kluber seem more likely to be problems than solutions.

All winter, I said they need Andrelton Simmons and Rick Porcello (although I said Simmons far more often). Porcello could still happen. But Simmons (.925 OPS) is pretty much crushing it for the Twins while also bringing his historically elite defense...

There you go. You are a better GM than Cash.

Getting Simmons would have improved SS, 2B and 1B defense.

You take the good with the bad with Cashman. Our problem each year seems to be the rotation, and although it's still too early to say anything about this year's rotation, the early results are not good. He did take steps to address it in the offseason, but given the internal cap constraint he had to make high risk/reward moves rather than just go spending on a FA starter.

I give him credit for acquiring Urshela/Voit/Hicks for basically nothing, which is a third of our starting lineup. Also his bullpen construction is always very good. The lineup is a bit one dimensional but still one of the best in baseball. It's easy to criticize all his failures but I have a hard time envisioning another GM doing a much better job than him.

As bad as the Yankees have looked, and they are better than this, they are only 5-6.

Plus two of those losses were entirely attributable to the stupid new runner on second rule in extras. Both extra inning losses came by 1 run and it was the extra runner that scored. Our extra inning win, we scored 4, so we’d win with the runner or not
