Houck is excelling because of his slider. Lots of movement. It is making hitters uncomfortable!

His delivery is also making it tough for the hitters to pick up the ball.

The key to houck is if he can get hitters out the second or third game they get to see him! Once the hitters learn to pick up the ball from his delivery, because he only has two pitches, it could get tough for him!

He needs to develop another pitch but he has nice poise.

Eck, OB and Remy need to do every game going forward.

Will be interesting to see what things are like in the spring in terms of travel. If everything is fully operational again, Remy doesn't go to Canada, and his health has kept him at home for some trips. But we shall see. I like the three of them together, especially against the Yankees

I think the announcers did great from the studio. Maybe there's no reason to send them out on the road anymore.

I completely agree, but I would imagine they would want to if they had that option

And made it all the way back to a .400 winning %.

My point is that if the season were a full season, this team probably gets back to .500. It was a bad team, but not all time bad.

Likewise, the Marlins would probably be near or under .500 in a 162 season, and the Astros would likely get back over .500.

Also, the Dodgers were on pace to win 116 games.

The team was dreadful for the first month and a half. They really turned it around once we got to September.

Record by month

July 3-5

August 9-18

September 12-13

They were awful for one month, but their turnaround was still sub-.500.

As for how good over 162 games, that's just conjecture. With this pitching over 162 games, it's just as easy to believe this team finishes 62-100 as it is to believe they finish 81-81....

It's all conjecture, but your conjecture seems overly negative.

I thought is was overly optimistic saying we had an equal chance at finishing 81-81 (50% winning %) as 62-100 (38% winning%).

We finished with a 40% winning %.

They ended on a 12-9 stretch. It's not amazing, but it's better than .400.

I’ll never understand people that always go for a full rebuild. This team has so much talent it’s not even funny. Zero chance we need a full rebuild. Offensively we are still a competitive team. Need a closer, a starter and some help in the bullpen though for sure. But doesn’t count as a full rebuild.

I agree that the talent is there. We will be competitive next year.

Yes, it could be a completely different story once opposing teams get the book on him. I'm hopeful though!

Ending his season, and quite possibly his Red Sox career, with a bang.

Glad to see him have himself a game.

I hope he's back next year, but if he's not, what a way to go out.

Not Remy. He said he would prefer broadcasting all road games from the studio. He's tired of traveling.

They really didn't miss a beat being in the studio. I think they should go there for all away games.

Well, I stand corrected ;)

I know I would miss being at ballparks permanently, but travelling isn't such a strain on my health

Agreed. I think they can do just as good a job from the studio.

I think I would love traveling to the various ballparks, but I also think that it would get old after a while.

Plus, you bring up the key point with Remy, I think, which is health concerns.
