I think Eovaldi and Perez could draw interest for sure. JBJ/Pillar could fit the "trade for a 4th OFer" that a lot of competing teams trade for at the deadline. Similarly, Moreland has a solid glove.

I don't think those guys bring back a substantial haul, but I think you could get a couple high ceiling/low floor type prospects.

I don’t think another GM takes Eovaldi at gunpoint. His contract and health history are not worth especially since there may be no postseason to go all in on this year.

Perez? Maybe. His major selling point is that the Sox have no debate about in or out. But if any other team bails and makes SP available, he’s probably demoted to Plan B.

I think the Sox move Barnes and Workman and no one else. Even two midseason trades is a lot..

Comparing the Tigers and the Red Sox prior to 2000, I'd probably have to go with rooting for the Tigers. Could say the same for Royals/Mets too. I'm not old enough to remember any playoffs prior to 84 (especially since the Sox weren't involved).

If Eovaldi keeps pitching this way here on out, I could see other GM's calling about him. They may not overwhelm Bloom with a trade, but you could get a decent prospect and salary relief.

Like I said before, its only a 60 game season, so there wont be much separation. Over 50% of the teams make the playoffs. There will be VERY few sellers. If the sox want to sell an enigmatic and oft injured pitcher with 2 yrs and $34 mil still on the docket, this is likely their last chance

If Eovaldi stays, it's even more likely that he gets dealt next year if he stays healthy.

Disagree entirely. Because the longer he is in the sox employ, the higher the likelihood he gets hurt. He never makes it through a full season, ever. This is the one chance he has with the season being so short

Now maybe you can loot Houston with a Barnes/Workman package. Not sure what they would give up. Likely not Whitley or Tucker...

Yeah, I can't see relievers going for top prospects any more.

The longer he stays, the less he is owed- the less risk another team takes on.

I'd tack on some cash and trade JBJ & JD to maximize the return.

Get what we can for Workman, Barnes & Hembree.

Anything is better than nothing.

If he gets dealt, you’re talking about maybe 6 starts for his new team. Is the remainder of his contract worth picking up for maybe 6 starts?

Perez might be the safer get for pitching-hungry teams. But I think he’s going to have to up his game to get anyone interested...

Is he retiring after this year? News to me.

He’s not reliable enough to be counted on for 2+ seasons. When was the last time Eovaldi made all his starts in 2 consecutive season? (He made 60 starts in 2014-15, which is close enough. So... 5-6 years ago. )

Here’s my argument. For 2020, over 50% of the teams will make the playoffs. With only 35 games in hand (for some teams) by the break, very few teams will be sellers. Eovaldi might be the top starter available on the market for 2020. That won’t be the case for 2021

For that to happen, Texas is going to need to turn things around. Otherwise Lance Lynn is the top starter available at the deadline...

If the season ended today, the Sox and Rangers would be one game out of the POs in the loss column.

Playing the Rays and Yankees 8 games soon will be no picnic. Don't get your hopes up. Let's give loom credit for getting Verdugo. He is young and may turn out to be a starter for the Sox for years to come

I agree that it could be the best chance to trade him. I don’t believe it’s the last chance to trade him.

I get why Eovaldi is a popular name to be traded. But all things considered, a decent starter for 2 years and 34 million is not a huge investment by today's standards. If you trade him you have to replace him. Assuming you plan to have a starting rotation in 2021 and 2022.

Eovaldi’s issues have been both production and health. He’s had one fully healthy season and it was pre-Yankee days. He’s also a maddeningly inconsistent player even with his superior arsenal. Saying he is worth his contract is not accurate. But, saying you could dump his contract this year could very well be

He might be worth his contract. I'm certainly not guaranteeing it. But it's far from impossible. His health issues the last two seasons have been 'loose bodies' related to his last TJ surgery.

But if you've seen his current medicals and you've seen some damage in there then hey, you know better than me.

Exactly what is it that anyone would trade Eovaldi for ? If this team expects to be ready for a full 162 game season in 2021 (far from a given) then they will need 6 or more capable starters. Sale may be a welcome return by next July/August, or not. ERod is no given depending on his recovery from his heart condition. No one else on the current team can even be pencilied in. Maybe Perez is a #5 or 6.

Eo is at least one plug-in, so why move him / His arm health in the past is not a great recommendation for durability but as RR says, "Who else can I run out there?"

I'm feeling a big sell off by the Sox!

I hope to God we keep Devers, Bogie, and a few others. JDM I would keep.

Sad, but a sell off may be likely, as a lot of teams may think they have a shot. Could be a good time to cut some nice deals.

Hopefully, Ryan Weber has thrown his last pitch for the Red Sox. He is not a major league pitcher.

This ! I’d really like Benny shut down for 10 games have him try to work on his mechanics and maybe phantom injury vacation the remainder of 20.......Trades are strait forward for me it involves only pitching and it’s no shockers ....Evoldi ,Perez ,Barnes in my humble opinion should be jettisoned.Evoldi like to get 65 cent back on the dollar Perez I’d take a low level lottery ticket Barnes I want about the same .I know most will say why in the hell trade these guys then ??? It’s time folks .Evoldi is on the clock for injury Perez is not in our future plans and Barnes is a mess I’m just sick of the guys consistency.....I would trade Benny for a lottery ticket also I’m just saddened by his downward trajectory I guess...I think the team had very high hopes for Benny and those hopes have turned to Blake Swi territory.Jax has made some very compelling points about Evo and his shelf life ...guys right .Dont wait Chaim we must strike these trades now .

Outside of home grown and players expected to core players in years to come, everybody else on the roster should be trade bait!

Unfortunately I do not see anybody being even remotely interested in Martinez.

But we have a good half dozen players we can trade for decent prospects.

Why keep players just because their homegrown? Workman and Bradley are two homegrown potential free agents. Barnes is also homegrown.
